Job description

Position Description

  • To provide leadership and management for the emergency department in partnership with the Emergency Department (ED) nursing manager.
  • To work cooperatively and supportively with the members of the medical staff to provide emergency services for all patients who present to the emergency department.
  • To work cooperatively and supportively with the other clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure availability, quality, and effective use of services.
  • To monitor community needs and provide significant input into the EMS system and disaster planning.
  • Assist the Medical Director in quality improvement projects.
  • Provide 12 hour shift coverage in a community hospital ED setting.  Treat patients to ensure proper injury care and disease diagnosis, request necessary tests and follow-up visits.  As necessary, stabilize patient and coordinate the transportation of patient to tertiary care centers.  Coordinate admissions into the hospital.

 
Cover 3, 12 hours shifts per week.  The shifts are on a rotating basis with 50% day shifts and 50% night shifts.

  1. BE or BC in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
