Job Description
The Production Planner plays a critical role in ensuring an efficient and timely production flow by developing, coordinating, and maintaining comprehensive supply and production plans. This role supports the successful execution of demand forecasts and ensures the availability of components and materials to meet customer delivery schedules. The Production Planner reviews and executes MRP signals, optimizes inventory levels, and collaborates closely with procurement, manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and quality assurance teams to support reliable and on-time production performance.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive production and supply plans that support customer delivery schedules and demand forecasts.
  • Review, interpret, and execute MRP signals to convert them into accurate and timely production orders.
  • Coordinate closely with procurement, manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and quality assurance to ensure material availability and smooth production flow.
  • Optimize inventory levels by balancing supply and demand, minimizing excess stock, and preventing material shortages.
  • Use ERP systems daily to manage production orders, material requirements, and scheduling activities.
  • Apply advanced Excel skills to analyze data, including inventory levels, forecasts, capacity, and trends, and to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and evaluate "what if" scenarios to assess the impact of changes in demand, capacity, or supply constraints on production plans.
  • Support production scheduling activities to ensure efficient use of capacity and on-time completion of customer orders.
  • Monitor and adjust production plans as needed to respond to changes in demand, material availability, or operational constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to inventory, scheduling, and material flow, and to continuously improve planning processes.

Essential Skills
  • 3-4+ years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to convert MRP signals into accurate production orders.
  • Strong experience working daily in ERP systems for production and materials planning.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including vlookups and formulas, to support analysis and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of production scheduling principles and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management concepts and methods.
  • Experience with demand planning inputs and how they influence production and supply plans.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to perform analysis around inventory levels, forecasts, capacity, and trends.
  • Ability to develop and interpret "what if" scenarios to support planning decisions.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP platforms for production and inventory control.

Work Environment
This is an on-site role based in a manufacturing environment in Melville. The standard schedule is either 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch break.
