Vigor Marine CM San Diego, a Vigor Marine Group company, builds on the proud legacy of Continental Maritime of San Diego (CMSD) to stand as a vital force on San Diegoโ€™s working waterfront. As a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy, our skilled professionals have successfully completed hundreds of ship repair and modernization projects for the Navy and Military Sealift Command.


We perform maintenance and modernization on all classes of major surface vessels, including CVN, CG and DDG, as well as amphibious ships such as LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD and auxiliary ships. Our work spans a full range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability systems, supporting the readiness and mission success of the U.S. Fleet.


Position Specifics

The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for further developing the proposal schedule by integrating inputs, analyzing discrepancies, and mitigating conflicts to ensure a fully developed, integrated schedule. The Planner/Scheduler also processes progress information for all aspects of production work aboard U.S. Navy vessels, ensuring compliance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60. The position is critical in accurately reporting percent progress in accordance with Work Specifications contained in the schedule and providing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) analysis and reports necessary for the maintenance team to execute the schedule on time, under budget, and in full compliance with contractual obligations.


Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen, as required for access to controlled Navy vessel operations.
  • Associateโ€™s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60 and its application to ship repair and scheduling.
  • Excellent working knowledge of U.S. Naval ship systems, Ship Repair fundamentals, and compliance-driven scheduling practices.
  • Excellent computer literacy of word processing, MS Excel, and data management, with a focus on compliance tracking and reporting.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, particularly in drafting compliance reports and schedule updates that align with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors under all weather conditions.
  • Must have experience writing reports requiring data input knowledge, with critical and analytical skills necessary for NAVSEA Standard Item compliance verification.
  • Must have knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques trade skills, quality assurance, testing, combat systems, engineering, and planning, as they relate to compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DBIDS access, ensuring adherence to all security and compliance protocols.
  • Complies with all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Policies and Procedures, as well as all applicable NAVSEA Standard Items, including 009-60.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior, putting the company priorities at the forefront of decisions and actions.
  • Fosters openness and early detection of possible ethics, compliance, and contractual issues to support early intervention of nonconformities related to NAVSEA Standard Items, particularly 009-60.
  • Fulfills all training and development activities in accordance with designated deadlines.
  • Completes an independent verification of progress, ensuring compliance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60, and compares data with other departments and Subcontractors.
  • Conducts walkthroughs of industrial services to annotate the locations and report discrepancies to Project Team, ensuring NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60 requirements are met.
  • Participates in the weekly schedule meetings.
  • Collaborates with Project Management personnel in collecting and accurately reporting actual progress, ensuring reporting aligns with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60.
  • Maintains the preparation of reports on project cost and completion estimates.
  • Provides performance cost and schedule estimate input to the entire contract team.
  • Maintains the preparation of service schedule and manpower distribution for new / growth activities.
  • Provides charge numbers, ensuring authorization in writing by the Contracts Department for all Proceeded Planned and Unplanned Work, per NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60.
  • Ensures strict compliance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60 as amplified by CMSD procedures, incorporating its requirements into scheduling, reporting, and progress verification.
  • Follows all company and NAVSEA procedures, both generic and specific to the subject department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements

  • Constantly works in an industrial or shipboard environment.
  • Frequently moves throughout the yard.
  • Must be able to maneuver ascend and descend stairs/ladders/ramps located inside various ships.
  • Ability to move up to 40 pounds.
  • May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams.
  • May be exposed to fumes, irritants, laser light, toxic chemicals, and potential electrical shock in an industrial or shipboard environment.
  • May involve gathering data while observing rotating or operating machinery.
