Job description

Airswift is looking for a Planner / Scheduler to support a major Industrial Construction project on a 1-year contract rotating to Anchorage, AK

Candidates must be based in Houston, TX!

Schedule: 18 days on / 10 days off rotating

We are seeking an experienced Planner / Scheduler to support ongoing industrial construction projects. This role will play a critical part in developing and managing project execution plans, ensuring alignment between field activities, engineering deliverables, and overall project schedules.

This is not a traditional scheduling role. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of construction execution and sequencing, with the ability to build and validate schedules based on real world field conditions, not just software inputs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and execution plans for industrial construction projects
  • Translate engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes of work into logical, executable work sequences
  • Work closely with project management, engineering, and field teams to ensure alignment on scope, sequencing, and timelines
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and validate the construction sequence and critical path of major project activities
  • Build schedules from first principles, including:
  • Identifying key activities
  • Establishing dependencies and critical paths
  • Defining realistic durations based on field conditions
  • Support project planning efforts by evaluating:
  • Construction methodologies
  • Resource requirements
  • Schedule risk and constraints
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and proactively identify:
  • Delays
  • Risk items
  • Opportunities for optimization
  • Participate in planning sessions, lookaheads, and coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Update schedules and reporting tools to reflect progress, changes, and forecasts
  • Provide input into schedule recovery plans and mitigation strategies when required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in planning, scheduling, or project controls within industrial construction or EPC environments
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing schedules for field-driven construction projects
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Construction sequencing
  • Work packaging
  • Field execution practices
  • Ability to read and interpret:
  • Engineering drawings
  • Specifications
  • Construction scopes of work
  • Experience working directly with:
  • Superintendents
  • Field crews
  • Engineers
  • Project managers
  • Hands-on experience building schedules from scratch, not just maintaining existing schedules
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Background

Targeting candidates with practical field experience, such as:

  • Former Superintendents or Supervisors who transitioned into planning or scheduling
  • Project engineers or project controls professionals with significant field exposure
  • Individuals who have personally managed crews, scopes, or field execution activities

Candidates who understand how work is actually performed onsite will be most successful in this role.
