Job description

Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKey) serves 37 counties in Pennsylvania, home to over half of Pennsylvania residents. We have offices in York, Allentown, Bensalem, Reading, Wilkes Barre, Harrisburg, and Lancaster. We operate 7 medical centers that serve over 30,000 patients annually and offer comprehensive sexuality education that reaches thousands of young adults.

Planned Parenthood Keystone is looking for a full-time, exempt Director of Major Gifts who lives within an hour of one of our centers. The Director of Major Gifts is an active member of the Development team and will be focused on all aspects of donor stewardship, solicitation, and prospecting. As an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKey) shares many core development functions with PPFA, including a shared database, access to wealth screening tools, collaboration with dedicated departments for donor intelligence department and planned giving. PPFA also has a thriving and highly effective mid-level giving program, which regularly feeds prospects into our Discovery pipeline. 
 
The goal of this role is to focus on maximizing all these resources to build and deepen one-on-one relationships with PPKey’s top donors and best prospects across its 37-county region. We’re looking for a front-line fundraiser who can also think strategically about the pipeline as a whole: who is there right now, who should be there, who can come out to make room for others with more potential. And then get out into the field and execute on that strategy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintains portfolio of current donors in the $5,000-$24,999 range, creating individual plans to cultivate, solicit and steward donors appropriately and proactively.
  • Conducts face-to-face fundraising solicitations and stewardship visits with current and prospective major donors. Individuals included in the major gift portfolio should receive several personal contacts throughout the year.
  • Drives and proactively manages the donor pipeline, making strategic decisions about moves management, including prospects, gift amounts, stewardship.
  • Advises and collaborates with Vice President of Development regarding prospects, gift amounts and solicitation techniques; thinks strategically about matching PPKeystone’s funding priorities to individual donor interests. Makes appropriate decisions about portfolio managers and coordinates with PPFA project management team
  • Drives the relationship with PPFA Donor Intelligence Team on research requests, analyzing results and thinking creatively about new sources of donor data to feed our pipeline. Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including donor database and wealth screening tools.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Donor Engagement on strategy, invite list, and staffing support for in-person gatherings and virtual experiences

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • Reliable means of transportation. Travel 25% of time within the state of Pennsylvania
  • Five to seven years related development experience
  • Fluent and experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), browser-based applications and relational databases
  • Salesforce, Raiser's Edge or other CRM technology experience
  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience in nonprofit fundraising or the philanthropic sector 
Preferred:
  • Experience with direct donor solicitation, or work with high-net worth individuals
  • Experience navigating complex or federated organizations
  • Experience with donor prospecting and research tools
