D.R. Horton, Inc. is growing! We are currently looking for a Land Acquisition Associate in Western PA! The right candidate will be responsible for identifying land to be acquired for single family projects within the greater Pittsburgh region. The Land Acquisition Associate will also be responsible for performing financial analysis and market research to negotiate land acquisitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Builds and maintains an active pipeline of acquisition leads across assigned geographic territory
  • Develops and sustains relationships with landowners, developers, brokers, attorneys, engineers, and municipal contacts
  • Evaluates land deals and works with Division management to determine the appropriate land/lot price, type of product, house price and costs, and deal structure
  • Manages the underwriting process for land acquisition opportunities, including the preparation of deal-specific competitive market analysis and preparing financial analysis for acquisition opportunities to present to management
  • Negotiates lot and land purchase contracts with land sellers and development partners
  • Manages the feasibility of land acquisition opportunities such as title, environmental, conceptual and engineering plans, and approvals/entitlements
  • Ensures key product and feasibility questions are resolved through internal collaboration
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight and locally
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Able to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience
  • Fifth year college or university program certificate
  • Four to six years of related experience and/or training
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
