Description:

Market Leader in Aluminum Extrusion seeks Cast House Operator for Monday - Friday 3rd shift: 8:00 pm - 6:00 am. Weekend work is required. Must have flexible schedule.


Cast House Operator role:

Casting aluminum billets (โ€œlogsโ€) to be used in metal extrusion process.


Job responsibilities include:

Loads furnace with scrap metal using forklift or bobcat. Prepares and adds alloying & fluxing materials. Operates controls to regulate the casting of aluminum logs according to standard operating procedures. Performs de-gassing, fluxing, skimming, and stirring operations as necessary. Checks cast book for sample data; tests and/or samples molten metal and takes corrective actions as required. Records production and other operating data.


Uses crane to hook up aluminum logs and remove them from casting pit. Properly identifies and marks cooled logs.


Performs periodic maintenance of the furnace as necessary, including cleaning, scraping, lubricating, adjusting, and other required functions. Reports any unusual mechanical or operating conditions to supervisor.


Unloads and segregates incoming scrap as needed. Assists in identification and disposal of unwanted scrap.


Cleans metallics from casting pit. Assists in making mold changes.


Loading & unloading homogenizer furnace carts and operating homogenizer as prescribed in operating instructions.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Forklift and/or Bobcat experience preferred
  • Previous experience in roles such as general laborer, landscaping, roofing, carpentry, machine operator is a plus
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a high temperature work environment and in seasonal temperature extremes (heat/cold)
  • Able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • A flexible schedule is a must. Weekends are required.
