Job description

Overview

The Pipeline Maintenance Tech will maintain pipeline integrity by pigging all the pipelines in a designated area, along with work associated with the operation and maintenance of gas and liquid facilities and pipelines.

It is expected that the Pipeline Maintenance Tech will help drive both safety and maintain cost control by helping to build a culture based on Murphy Vision and Values.  The successful candidate will need to have strong interpersonal skills to interface and influence other organizations both in the field and Houston office. This will require excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication of decisions and setting the desired direction of the Maintenance program.

Responsibilities
  • Perform work in compliance with safe work practices
  • Practice awareness concerning issues of health, safety and the environment; cooperates with emergency teams to anticipate and deal with any hazardous and/or unusual situations (gas environment, high-pressure wells, oil spills and line leaks, inclement weather, acts of vandalism, etc.)
  • Under limited supervision, performs oil field related services and task in accordance with OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements.
  • Performs general groundwork and cleanup around pipelines, well sites, facilities, and lease property
  • Collaborates with team members and Supervisors to solve work-related problems and develop appropriate solutions
  • Perform work with minimum supervision from digital, written or verbal work orders.
  • Perform housekeeping to maintain clean, neat and safe standards.
  • Establishing a continuous improvement culture that challenges "normal operations".
  • Influence Maintenance, and other Functions, to adopt Murphy's "management by exception" philosophy
  • Supports the implementation of SAP throughout all aspects of operations
  • Ability to effectively interact with other Functions (HSE, Operations, Engineering, Accounting etc).
  • Supports special projects as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Foreman
  • Assist in launching and receiving smart tools
  • Launch, monitor and receive pipeline pigs
  • Conduct Damage Prevention activities including pipeline patrols and other activities affecting the pipeline
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to do physical work
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in oil and gas operations or other suitable industry experience
  • Familiarity & Proficiency with CMMS, SAP, Microsoft Office, and Mobile Applications (iPhone Apps). 
  • Understand life cycle of maintenance and operations.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA Regulations, Safety Policies and Practices, Permit to Work System to include Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Lock Out Tag Out and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Work Schedule 5/2
  • Ability to work weekends (as needed) to ensure Maintenance program safely and efficiently executed.
  • Must be able to work long hours in a demanding environment
  • Must be able to work on weekends in Operations group duty rotation if required
  • Must be able to work at unspecified times where circumstances require
  • Strong maintenance and operations knowledge
  • Team player with good interpersonal, coaching and mentoring skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable interacting with those outside the Maintenance organization to influence necessary change
  • Safe and proper handling of shop power equipment, ordinary hand tools, and power tools
  • Safe operation of overhead cranes, fork trucks, scissors lift.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in interpreting specifications, drawings, and instructions to assist in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, etc. of mechanical equipment
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of government regulatory institutions
  • Experience with Permit to Work, Mechanical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessments
  • The successful candidate will live within 70-miles of Jourdanton, Texas
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle is required

  • Physical requirements typically include standing, stooping, walking, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and wearing various personal protective equipment (PPE) in extreme variations of temperature year-round. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
