Position Description:
Comfort Systems USA Mid South is currently seeking a highly motivated, ethical, and safety-oriented Pipe Fitter Apprentice III. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of pipe fitting and/or pipe welding experience in the HVAC trade for commercial construction. This position is ideal for individuals with strong work ethics and a desire to work in both field and pipe shop environments.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the installation and repair of piping systems, performing basic welding tasks, ensuring job safety, and demonstrating a high standard of professionalism. Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pipe Fitter Apprentice.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and piping components, including chill-water piping, hot water piping, and steam piping.
  • Basic knowledge of piping mathematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and drawings.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to TIG, FLUX, and STICK weld.
  • Welding certifications preferred but not required (a plus).
  • Must be able to pass a vertical overhead, flux core, and MIG weld test.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior pipe fitters with the installation and repair of piping systems.
  • Install carbon steel, copper, and other types of pipe under supervision and in compliance with codes and standards.
  • Perform basic pipe welding tasks, including TIG, FLUX, and STICK welding, as required.
  • Assist with the installation of equipment such as boilers, chillers, and pumps.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics related to HVAC systems and piping layouts.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring proper use and storage.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all job site safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure quality workmanship while adhering to project timelines and specifications.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to respond to project needs, including occasional overtime and weekend work, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or project foremen.
