Job description

Job Title: PipefitterJob Description

This role involves laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining a wide range of pipe systems and related hydraulic or pneumatic equipment used for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production or processing systems. You will interpret blueprints and specifications, prepare materials, and ensure that all piping installations meet quality and safety standards while supporting a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic or pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production or processing systems.
  • Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the type of pipe, tools, and materials required, and plan the sequence of tasks for each project.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble, and install metal, plastic, and fiberglass pipes, valves, and fittings according to project requirements.
  • Join pipe sections and related equipment securely, ensuring proper alignment, support, and positioning of all components.
  • Use appropriate testing equipment to check pipe systems for leaks and verify the integrity and performance of installations.
  • Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets to support pipe installations and related structures.
  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and various power tools to achieve a safe and precise finish.
  • Cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks as needed in addition to primary pipefitting responsibilities, supporting team flexibility and operational needs.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications related to piping systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in pipe fitting, including layout, installation, and maintenance of pipe systems and supports.
  • Ability to install a variety of pipe materials, including metal, plastic, and fiberglass, along with valves and fittings.
  • Skilled in pipe threading, grooving, bending, and assembling pipe systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Experience with brazing and related joining techniques for piping and associated components.
  • Competence in using testing equipment to check systems for leaks and verify proper operation.
  • Ability to safely drill and punch holes in metal and work with screws, bolts, and rivets.
  • Proficiency in trimming, filing, grinding, deburring, buffing, and smoothing surfaces, seams, and joints using hand tools and power tools.
  • Qualification as a Pipe Fitter/Steamfitter Journeyman by trade or equivalent journey-level experience in pipefitting.

Pay and Benefits
