About the Role:

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Production- Labor Pool Associate for our Lynchburg, VA location.

Regular and Special Duties:

  • Labor pool will train in departments best suited for applicant based on previous skill and/or interview with employee.
  • Labor pool includes potential job responsibilities of machine operator, equipment operator, line worker, shipping worker, and others.
  • Labor pool employees are eligible to enter the maintenance apprenticeship program.
  • Labor pool fills in on production jobs when required within department replacing absentees, vacations, etc.
  • Labor pool serves as a relief man to relieve regular employees for work and lunch breaks.
  • Labor pool is responsible for good housekeeping in any work area assigned.
  • Labor pool is responsible for safe work practices and a safety-first mindset.
  • Labor pool does all work as assigned by the supervisor to support production needs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb steps and ladders.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop repeatedly.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to manually roll pipe on rails.
  • Responsible for completing clean-up tasks involving picking up, sweeping, and shoveling.
  • Must be able to help remove production materials and all other debris in area.
  • Responsible for positioning equipment back in proper place.
  • Must be able to recognize defective equipment and appropriately report defects to leadership/supervisor. 
  • Must be able to work in both hot and cold environments.
  • Must be able to practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.

  • Must be able to work under various working conditions.
  • Should be able to learn and perform simple jobs in a reasonable time.
  • Must be safety conscious at all times
