Heavy Haul Truck Driver (Lowboy) โ€“ Class A CDLPosition Summary

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Heavy Haul Truck Driver to support our construction and field operations throughout Iowa and the Midwest. This position is responsible for safely transporting heavy equipment, materials, and construction-related assets using commercial semi-trucks and lowboy trailers.

The ideal candidate will have experience hauling oversized and overweight loads, loading and unloading heavy equipment, securing loads in accordance with DOT regulations, and operating a variety of construction equipment. This role supports field crews and may require overnight travel depending on project locations and transportation needs.

Essential ResponsibilitiesTransportation & Logistics
  • Operate commercial semi-trucks and lowboy trailers in compliance with all DOT regulations, company policies, and traffic laws.
  • Safely transport heavy equipment, construction materials, and specialized machinery to and from project sites.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and DOT-required inspections.
  • Ensure timely delivery and pickup of equipment and materials.
Load Securement & Equipment Transport
  • Load, unload, and properly secure equipment and materials for transport, including:
    • Excavators
    • Backhoes
    • Skid steers
    • Loaders
    • Bore machines
    • Welders
    • Pipe
    • Augers
    • Trench plates
    • Sheeting and construction materials
  • Inspect loads to ensure proper securement and compliance with DOT requirements.
  • Prevent equipment damage or material loss during transportation.
Heavy Equipment Operation
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed to load and unload trailers, including:
    • Excavators
    • Backhoes
    • Skid steers
    • Wheel loaders
    • Forklifts
    • Other construction equipment
Oversized & Overweight Loads
  • Measure, weigh, and calculate Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings (GVWR).
  • Coordinate and obtain required permits for oversized and overweight loads.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal transportation regulations.
