CDL-A Flatbed Truck Driver – Industrial Pipe Yard

Location: Amelia, Louisiana
Schedule: Monday–Friday; overtime and weekends as needed

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CDL-A Flatbed Truck Driver to join our team at an industrial pipe yard in Amelia, LA. The driver will operate an 18-wheeler flatbed tractor-trailer to safely transport pipe, tubular products, and other industrial materials between the pipe yard, customer locations, and designated job sites.

The ideal candidate will have previous flatbed experience and be knowledgeable in properly loading, securing, transporting, and unloading long and heavy pipe materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Operate an 18-wheeler tractor with a flatbed trailer in a safe and professional manner.
  • Transport pipe, tubular products, and other industrial materials to and from designated locations.
  • Safely load and unload pipe and materials.
  • Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, tarps, and other approved load-securement equipment.
  • Ensure all loads are properly balanced and secured before transportation.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor and trailer.
  • Inspect chains, binders, straps, tires, brakes, lights, and other equipment before and during trips.
  • Complete required DOT paperwork, delivery tickets, bills of lading, and driver logs.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard personnel, customers, and supervisors.
  • Safely maneuver the tractor-trailer within an industrial pipe-yard environment.
  • Report equipment problems, load concerns, accidents, delays, or other issues immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe truck and trailer.
  • Follow all required PPE and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of CDL-A driving experience preferred.
  • Previous flatbed driving experience required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience hauling pipe, steel, tubular products, or other oversized/long materials preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of flatbed load securement procedures.
  • Clean and acceptable driving record.
  • Current DOT Medical Card.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb onto and around a flatbed trailer and safely secure loads.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, bend, stoop, and perform other physical activities associated with load securement.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.


Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in an industrial pipe yard, oilfield, or oil & gas environment.
  • Experience hauling OCTG, casing, tubing, drill pipe, or other tubular products.
  • Experience with chains, binders, straps, tarps, and other flatbed equipment.
  • TWIC Card is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industrial-yard and oilfield safety requirements.


Work Environment

This position requires working both on the road and in an active industrial pipe-yard environment. The driver will work around heavy equipment, cranes, forklifts, pipe, trucks, and other industrial machinery.

Employees are required to follow all company and customer safety procedures and wear required PPE while on site.
