For proof, look no further than our strong working relationships and extraordinary workforce. Turner Industries Group is looking for Pipefitters for work in the Decatur, AL area. The Pipefitter position lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently. Essential Qualifications:High school or equivalentOne (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)A-class Pipefitter requires basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches and engineering drawingsHave basic knowledge of how to connect flanged pipe connections using a cross pattern bolting techniqueBe able to read and utilize a tape measure properlyBe able to understand and utilize a framing square as it is applicable to pipefitting tasksMust know how to properly utilize power tools to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading and boltingA-class pipefitters must be able to make accurate and precise weld connection fit upsPost offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband PolicyComply with company and client job site safety requirementsMust not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace Functional Requirements:Selects and inspects proper safety gear to be used while performing work tasks; selects size and type of pipe and related material according to job specifications; inspects worksites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that creating holes for pipe penetration will not cause structural weakness; plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers; cuts, threads, and bends pipe; assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic; joins pipe by means of threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints; secures pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, supports and hangers; installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping; tests piping system for leaks; utilizes a variety of power tools including but not limited to, electric, pneumatic, and battery powered; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction CompensationFinal agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. BenefitsDepending on your employment status, benefits include health, dental, vision, life, ADD, voluntary life / ADD, disability benefits, leaves of absence, 401k, paid time off, paid holidays, telehealth access, and employee assistance program. Physical Involvement:May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; typing /data entry; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environmentTurner Industries is an equal employment opportunity employer.
