Job Title: HVAC Service Technician / Service Manager – Multiple locations

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Service Technician / Service Mechanic to install, assemble and maintain systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This job involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, repair, installation, servicing and maintenance of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems found in commercial buildings, hospitals, supermarkets, industrial and manufacturing plants. There is also potential to learn HVAC Building Automation Systems.

Uhl is a union contractor, we will help facilitate your process to become a union Pipefitter, Plumber or Sheetmetal Worker prior to starting. You may be required to be on call for after work hours and weekend service calls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Service technicians must have a good understanding of electricity, science, refrigeration, heat transfer, and temperature control.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair of HVAC systems.
  • Communicates with the customers and their representatives, including building owners, other contractors and field support staff.
  • Install, assemble and repair HVAC piping systems, including chilled water, steam and gas lines.
  • Must be able to solder and braze piping connections as needed.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to local building codes and safety standards and complies with internal contracting processes.
  • Must be able to collaborate with HVAC technicians, engineers and other tradespeople on project sites.
  • Must maintain tools and equipment and ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Must pass a background check and a valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in HVAC pipefitting.
  • Must have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork and piping.
  • EPA 608 Certification
  • Must have a neat appearance.
  • Advanced written, verbal, customer service and relationship building skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical drawings and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in HVAC installation.
  • Flexible, willingness to be able to adapt to change.
  • Ability to work well with others both internally and externally including in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of industry is recommended but not required.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to operate effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Working Condition / Physical Requirements:

This job requires climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, lifting, and working in extreme temperature ranges. You may be required to work in high or enclosed spaces, and outside in various weather conditions. Must have the physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various environments.
