Location/Supports: CAIS, OCSLA and OCHS
Classification: Administrative/Clerical
Reports to: Communications Supervisor or designee
Range: 12 (Step C-J depending on experience $22.58-$31.78)
Hours: 6.5 hours per day
Contract Days: 190 days per year
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Position Summary
The Website and Social Media Specialist performs day to day administration of the organization's web assets, managing school communication to provide news about the assigned school(s) and activities to both the internal and external audiences. This position coordinates the planning, maintenance, and accessibility of website content to ensure consistency in look and feel. This includes ensuring that the layout, positioning, navigation, and content are consistent across sites and throughout the organization.
Essential Functions
  1. Administer everyday operations and manage functionality of designated district/school website(s).
  2. Coordinate with various departments to gather the most useful and up-to-date information.
  3. Increase usability and functionality of designated websites.
  4. Plan, develop, test, edit, and maintain documents, ensuring accessibility requirements are met.
  5. Control content, look, and flow of designated websites. Web content includes text and embedded graphics, photos, video.
  6. Serve as managing editor for designated websites.
  7. Design and edit graphical content using Adobe Photoshop.
  8. Update school calendar(s).
  9. Manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities for designated school/department.
  10. Manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, X, Instagram, Pinterest, and other similar community sites.
  11. Capture images and video, and manage Flickr photo account. Acquire and share additional photos as needed.
  12. Ensure required documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately; participate in creation where necessary.
  13. Provide excellent customer service.
  14. Provide support, training and service to users of the district's web services and applications. Keep current with emerging web and social media technologies.
  15. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Familiarity with web-based content management systems (Apptegy/thrillshare, ParentSquare, Drupal)
  2. Working knowledge of Graphic Design Applications, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
  3. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and publishing software.
  4. High technical understanding and ability to learn to use new tools quickly.
  5. Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives along with knowledge of high school procedures.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including story writing, interviewing, and news article creation and posting. Ability to present ideas using professional and user-friendly language.
  7. Keen attention to detail.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  9. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  10. Ability to exercise independent judgment while adhering to prescribed policies and procedures and perform the essential functions of the position with minimal supervision.
  11. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships and work in partnership with supervisors, other staff, students, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Post-high school education and coursework in marketing, journalism, computer science, or related field.
  2. Successful experience using web-based content management systems.
  3. Successful experience using Social Media, including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, Flickr.
  4. Experience with creating and managing digital signage systems.
  5. Experience with video capturing, editing, and asset management using online storage and delivery systems.
  6. Proven history of strong customer service orientation.
  7. Successful experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  8. Successful completion of criminal history records check, as required by law.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, journalism, or related field.
