Job description


Zachry Group in San Antonio, Texas is seeking an experienced First Officer / SIC for our Aviation Department based in San Antonio, Texas. The First Officer / SIC is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft and the safety of the crew and passengers. They will report to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during each assigned flight. They will be concerned with airworthiness of the plane, weather factors affecting the flight, flight regulations, air traffic control procedures, and will be making use of air navigational aids designed to provide maximum safety in the air. This role operates within a Part 91 corporate flight department environment and requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and commitment to safety. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, sound aeronautical decision-making, and the ability to operate effectively within a small, team-oriented flight department.
Responsibilities
  • Works within the Zachry Industrial, Inc. Aviation Department to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures to provide for safe, reliable, and comfortable air transportation. Actively participates in implementation and all initiatives within the SMS and is familiar with SMS policies and procedures.
  • Assist the PIC to make decisions as necessary to the start, delay, or cancellation of the flight, or deviation from a planned destination when operating conditions dictate
  • Maintain strict adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Management System (SMS) policies.
  • Actively participate in the development and continuous improvement of departmental safety initiatives.
  • Deliver a high standard of passenger service, supporting executive travel with professionalism and discretion.
  • Assist passengers with baggage handling and other travel needs as required.
  • Maintain all required training, licenses, certifications, and currency in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively within a small, professional aviation team environment.
  • Perform additional duties or operational assignments as directed by the Chief Pilot or Aviation Manager.

Qualifications
  • Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
  • Valid U.S. Passport with the ability to travel internationally
  • Valid driver's license
  • English language proficiency

Flight Experience Preferred
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine privileges
  • Type rating in the Citation Sovereign (CE-680)
  • Minimum three years of corporate aviation experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2,000 hours total flight time
  • 1,000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC)
  • 100 hours instrument
  • 150 hours night
  • 500 hours turbine time

Additional Requirements
  • Experience operating multi-crew aircraft
  • Current or previous qualification in turbojet aircraft
  • Clean FAA, DOT, and DOJ records with no violations or deviations within the past seven years
  • Ability to reside within one hour of San Antonio International Airport (KSAT) or relocate accordingly
  • Willingness to travel frequently (domestic and occasional international)
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as operational needs require

Work Environment
This role operates in a variety of environments including corporate offices, hangars, and airport facilities. Occasional visits to operational or construction project locations may occur. Noise levels may vary depending on operational conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during flight operations
  • Ability to work in confined cockpit environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to assist with passenger baggage
  • Ability to communicate effectively via radio, telephone, email, and operational software systems
