Employer & Industry UsageOwned or operated by fitness or wellness companiesEmployed or self-employed, providing instruction

While a Pilates Studio is a location that offers Pilates classes and sessions, a Pilates Instructor is a professional who teaches Pilates exercises. The studio is the business or facility, whereas the instructor is the individual delivering the training. Both roles often require certification, but the studio focuses on operation and management, while the instructor emphasizes teaching skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Pilates Studio Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Pilates Studio Manager, you need strong organizational skills, a background in fitness or Pilates instruction, and experience in business operations or studio management. Familiarity with studio management software, scheduling tools, and CPR/First Aid certification is often expected. Excellent customer service, leadership, and communication skills help create a welcoming environment and effectively manage staff and clients. These skills are crucial for ensuring smooth studio operations, client satisfaction, and overall studio growth.

What are some common challenges faced by instructors at a Pilates studio, and how can they be managed?

Pilates instructors in a studio setting often balance teaching group classes with providing individualized attention to clients of varying skill levels and physical abilities. A common challenge is adapting exercises to accommodate clients with injuries or limitations while ensuring classes remain engaging for everyone. Instructors also need to manage their schedules efficiently, often working early mornings, evenings, or weekends. Building strong client relationships and maintaining open communication with fellow instructors and management can help overcome these challenges and foster a supportive studio environment.

What is a Pilates studio?

A Pilates studio is a specialized fitness facility where individuals can practice Pilates, a form of low-impact exercise focused on strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall body awareness. These studios are typically equipped with Pilates-specific apparatus like Reformers, Cadillacs, and Wunda Chairs, as well as space for mat work. Certified instructors guide clients through exercises tailored to their needs and abilities, often offering group classes or private sessions. Pilates studios cater to people of all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners, and can help with rehabilitation, posture improvement, and overall wellness.

Studio Manager - Business & Team Leader
Lead with Purpose. Build an Incredible Team. Grow an Exceptional Business
At BODYBAR Pilates, we believe we're in the people business first.
Every day, we have the opportunity to help our members feel stronger, more confident, and more empowered - and that starts with exceptional leadership.
We're looking for a driven, inspiring Studio Manager who is passionate about developing people, growing a business, and creating an experience that members and employees genuinely love.
This is more than a management position - it's an opportunity to lead a thriving business, develop future leaders, and make a lasting impact on your team, your members, and your community.
If you're energized by coaching others, building meaningful relationships, achieving ambitious goals, and creating a culture where people thrive, we'd love to meet you.
Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Complimentary BODYBAR Pilates classes
  • Competitive salary plus performance-based bonuses
  • Clear opportunities for career advancement within one of the fastest-growing boutique fitness brands in the country
  • Employee discounts on BODYBAR apparel
  • Flexible scheduling that supports work-life balance
  • A positive, supportive culture that values growth, collaboration, and celebrating wins together
About BODYBAR Pilates
BODYBAR Pilates is a rapidly growing boutique fitness franchise dedicated to helping people move better, feel stronger, and live healthier lives through our signature BODYBAR Method.
Our classes combine strength, precision, and intentional movement in a welcoming environment where every member feels seen, supported, and challenged.
Everything we do is rooted in our core value of CHEER - bringing positivity, encouragement, and purpose to every interaction. Whether we're celebrating someone's first class or their 500th, we believe people should leave our studios feeling stronger than when they arrived.
Our Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who leads with both heart and high standards.
You're the type of leader who naturally earns trust, develops great people, and believes that the best teams are built through coaching, accountability, and genuine care.
You think like a business owner. You enjoy analyzing performance, setting ambitious goals, solving problems, and finding opportunities for growth. You're motivated by results - but you know those results come from investing in your people first.
You aren't afraid to have difficult conversations, celebrate big wins, or jump in wherever your team needs you. You understand that leadership isn't about having all the answers - it's about creating an environment where people can do their very best work.
Most importantly, you believe success is measured by more than numbers. It's measured by the team you've built, the members you've impacted, and the culture you've created.
If you're looking for a career where you can grow as a leader while helping others grow too, you'll feel right at home at BODYBAR.
What Success Looks Like
As our Studio Manager, your impact extends far beyond the day-to-day operations.
When you're successful:
  • Your team feels inspired, supported, and proud to come to work.
  • Leaders within your studio are growing because of your coaching and mentorship.
  • Members feel welcomed, valued, and connected every time they walk through the doors.
  • Your studio consistently achieves membership, revenue, and retention goals.
  • Sales feel authentic because your team is focused on helping people, not simply selling memberships.
  • Your studio has become known in the community for outstanding service, positive energy, and meaningful relationships.
  • Team members are held to high standards while feeling genuinely cared for and supported.
  • Every decision reflects the culture, professionalism, and excellence that define the BODYBAR brand.
What You'll Do
Lead an Exceptional Team
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain an outstanding team of Sales Associates, Assistant Studio Managers, and instructors.
  • Create a culture built on positivity, accountability, teamwork, and continuous growth.
  • Coach leaders through regular feedback, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Lead by example with integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
  • Foster an environment where people feel challenged, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Grow the Business
  • Own the overall performance of the studio, including membership growth, revenue, retention, and profitability.
  • Lead the BODYBAR sales process while coaching your team to confidently build relationships and convert memberships.
  • Analyze studio performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive results through thoughtful planning, accountability, and consistent execution.

Build Community
  • Develop meaningful relationships with members that create lifelong loyalty.
  • Build strategic partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
  • Represent BODYBAR at networking events and within the community.
  • Create memorable experiences that naturally generate referrals and enthusiastic brand advocates.

Deliver an Exceptional Member Experience
  • Ensure every member and guest receives an outstanding experience from their first visit onward.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging studio culture.
  • Celebrate member milestones and create an environment where people genuinely feel they belong.

Lead Operational Excellence
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism.
  • Oversee inventory, retail merchandising, studio systems, and administrative operations.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed while continuously looking for ways to improve efficiency.
  • Create systems that allow both your team and your studio to operate at a high level.
What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • 5+ years of success in retail, hospitality, fitness, or service-based sales.
  • A proven history of meeting or exceeding sales and business performance goals.
  • Experience developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
  • Strong business acumen and confidence making decisions.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Exceptional organization and time management.
  • Comfort using technology and learning new systems.
  • Professionalism, integrity, reliability, and a passion for helping others succeed.
Our Core Values
Everything we do starts with one simple belief:
People come first
Our members are the heart of our business, and our team is what makes the magic happen. We believe that when we invest in our people, build meaningful relationships, and lead with authenticity, business growth naturally follows.
We're looking for leaders who are:
