JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36

Work Shift: 7pm-7am

Summary of the Job:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities for the Pediatric Intensive Care patient. Activities include, but are not limited to, use of the nursing process in the utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient. Registered Nurses also supervise the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants. Registered Nurses work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The Registered Nurse will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital. Nursing staff within Children's Services areas are required to float among NICU, and Pediatrics as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:

Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program.Current LA RN licensure. One year of experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) preferred. Current BLS required upon hire. PALS is required within 90 days of hire. Certifications may be through any International Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check-off.

Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
