POSITION OVERVIEWย 

Farmington Country Club isย seekingย an energetic, passionate, and organized Assistant Pickleball Professional to join the Racquet Sports Department. This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role for a teaching professional who is equally comfortable leading a fast-paced group clinic, managing eventย logistics, and handling the administrative details that keep a busy racquet sports program running smoothly.ย 

Reporting directly to the Pickleball Coordinator and Director of Racquets, the Assistant Pickleball Professional plays a vital supporting role across all aspects of the pickleball program. On the court, this person delivers instruction atย a high level, builds genuine relationships with members of all abilities, and actively contributes to growing a vibrant pickleball community at Farmington. Off the court, they take on meaningful administrative and operational responsibilities โ€” managing registrations, supporting events,ย assistingย with communications, and helping ensure the departmentโ€™s programs are organized, well-communicated, and flawlessly executed.ย 

This role is ideal for a dedicated professional who is ambitious about their craft, hungry to develop their skills in a premier private clubย environment andย committed to deliveringย a five-star member experience in everything they do. Strong candidates will bring a minimum 4.0 DUPR playing level, PPR or IPTPA certification, and a genuine love of teaching the game to players at every stage of their journey.ย

ON-COURT RESPONSIBILITIES: PICKLEBALL INSTRUCTION & PLAYER DEVELOPMENTย 

Private & Semi-Private Instructionย 

  • Deliver high-quality private and semi-private pickleball lessons to members and guests of all skill levels, from first-time beginners through competitive intermediate and advanced players.ย 
  • Develop individualized lesson plans and skill progressions for each student, drawing on current instructionalย methodologyย and a deep understanding of pickleball technique and strategy.ย 
  • Maintain detailed lesson records for each student, including goals, areas of focus, session notes, and progress milestones, to ensure continuity and personalization across lessons.ย 
  • Build a strong and growing private lesson book, proactively cultivating lesson relationships with new members, returning students, and lapsed players throughout the season.ย 
  • Communicate clearly and encouragingly with studentsย regardingย their development, adjusting teaching style to matchย each individualโ€™sย learning pace and personality.ย 

Group Clinics & Structured Playย 

  • Assistย in designing and leading group clinics at all levels โ€” beginner, intermediate, and advanced โ€” under the direction of the Pickleball Coordinator, ensuring each session is engaging, well-paced, and skill-appropriate.ย 
  • Lead assigned clinic segments independently,ย demonstratingย the ability to manage court flow, deliver clear instruction to groups of varying sizes, andย maintainย an upbeat, encouraging atmosphere.ย 
  • Support the development and execution of structured play formats, including round-robins, challenge courts, themed mixers, and social play events, helping to build energy and community on the court.ย 
  • Assistย with the seasonal and weekly clinic calendar, providing feedback to theย Coordinatorย on format effectiveness, member preferences, and participation trends.ย 

Junior Pickleball Developmentย 

  • Take an active role in the Clubโ€™s junior pickleball development program, delivering age-appropriate instruction, running junior clinics, and helping nurture a love ofย the sportย among young members.ย 
  • Assist the Pickleballย Director in building out the junior program curriculum, skill progressions, and competitive pathways, with a focus on long-term player development and member retention.ย 
  • Communicate proactively and warmly with parentsย regardingย their childโ€™s progress, clinic schedules, and any relevant updates or opportunities.ย 
  • Serve as a positive, energetic role model for junior players, modeling sportsmanship, dedication, andย a joyย for the game.ย 

On-Court Presence & Member Engagementย 

  • Maintain a visible, engaged on-court presence throughout the week, including during open play sessions, drop-in programming, and social hours, to connect with members and encourage participation.ย 
  • Approach everyย courtย interaction โ€” planned orย spontaneous โ€”ย with enthusiasm and professionalism, reinforcing a welcoming and vibrant pickleball culture at Farmington.ย 
  • Proactively introduce new members, non-playing spouses, and beginner-level players to pickleball programming, making the entry point into the sport as inviting and accessible as possible.ย 
  • Maintainย a pickleball playing ability of 4.0 DUPR or higher, with a commitment to ongoing personal skill development and competitive engagement.ย 
  • Stay current on evolving pickleballย technique, strategy, equipment, and industry trends, continuously incorporating new knowledge into instruction and programming.ย 

OFF-COURT RESPONSIBILITIES: ADMINISTRATIVE & OPERATIONAL SUPPORTย 

Program Administration & Registrationย 

  • Assist the Pickleballย Director in building and managing clinics, sessions, and events in Northstar, including registration setup, capacity management, waitlist administration, and participant tracking.ย 
  • Maintainย accurate, up-to-date records of lesson bookings, clinic enrollments, event rosters, and court reservations in the Clubโ€™s management software.ย 
  • Monitor registration data and participation trends, flagging low enrollment, scheduling conflicts, or program gaps to theย Coordinatorย forย timelyย resolution.ย 
  • Assistย with end-of-month administrative reporting, helping compile participation numbers, lesson revenue summaries, and event outcomes for department leadership review.ย 
  • Participate in weekly one-on-one check-ins with the Pickleballย Director to review administrative priorities, track open action items, and ensure all tasks are progressing on schedule.ย 

Member Communications Supportย 

  • Assistย in draftingย member communicationsย including program announcements, clinic schedules, event invitations, and seasonal updates,ย submittingย all content to the Pickleballย Director or Director of Racquets for review prior to distribution.ย 
  • Help ensure that the Clubโ€™s website, app, and digital channels accurately reflect current program schedules, court availability, and event details, flagging any discrepancies to theย appropriate department.ย 
  • Support the promotion of clinics, events, and special programming through email campaigns, Club Circle submissions, app updates, and in-club signage as directed.ย 
  • Assistย the communications team with racquet sports content preparation, including flyers, promotional copy, and social media content, as directed by theย Director.ย 

Events Support & Coordinationย 

  • Assist the Pickleballย Director in the planning, promotion,ย logistics, and execution of all racquet sports events, including tournaments, member socials, round-robins, leagues, birthday parties, corporate outings, and holiday events.ย 
  • Take ownership of assigned eventย logisticsย tasks โ€” such as court setup and breakdown, participant check-in, bracket management, score tracking, and equipment preparation โ€” completing each with precision and a service-first mindset.ย 
  • Be present and actively engaged at all racquet sports events, helping ensure smooth operations, a welcoming atmosphere, and a seamless member experience from start to finish.ย 
  • Confirm eventย logisticsย โ€” including staffing, equipment, court reservations, and catering coordination โ€” no less thanย 48 hoursย before each event, communicating proactively with theย Coordinatorย on any open items.ย 
  • Participate in post-event debriefs, offering observations and suggestions for improvement to theย Coordinator.ย 

Cross-Departmentย Supportย 

  • Assistย in coordinating with Food & Beverage, IT, Communications, and other departments as directed by the Pickleballย Directorย to support smooth event execution and programming delivery.ย 
  • Participate in IT team initiatives as requested, learning and helping to train other racquet sports staff on any new software platforms introduced to the Club.ย 
  • Support the development of racquet sports packages and programs, such as the โ€œStay and Play Racquets Retreats,โ€ by providing teaching,ย logistics, and on-court support during retreat programming.ย 
  • Assistย in efforts to maximize usage of all FCC racquet sports facilities, supporting programming ideas that reduce member attrition and strengthen the Clubโ€™s overall racquet sports value proposition.ย 

FACILITY STANDARDS & DEPARTMENT CONDUCTย 

  • Helpย maintainย all racquet sports facilities in immaculate, safe, and professional conditionย at all times, including court surfaces, nets, windscreens, ball stations, equipment storage areas, and the pro shop.ย 
  • Enforce all Racquet Sports Department policies and Club rules consistently, respectfully, and without exception.ย 
  • Identifyย and promptly report any facility maintenance needs, safety concerns, or equipment issues to the Pickleball Coordinator for follow-up.ย 
  • Resolve member concerns and scheduling questions quickly, calmly, and courteously, escalating to the Pickleballย Director or Director of Racquets asย appropriate.ย 
  • Attend all staff meetings, department meetings, and training sessions as requested by the Pickleball Coordinator and Director of Racquets.ย 
  • Motivate fellow staff members to exhibit professionalism, cooperation, and a member-first mindsetย at all times.ย 
  • Contribute to the overall team effort by completingย additionalย duties as assigned, with a willing and positive attitude.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSย 

Required Certificationsย 

  • PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry) or IPTPA (International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association) pickleball teaching certificationย 
  • USPTA or PTR tennis teaching certificationย 
  • Current first aid / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)ย 

Playing Abilityย 

  • Minimum 4.0 DUPR ratingย required; 4.5+ strongly preferredย 
  • Active participation in pickleballย competition, leagues, or organized play is a plusย 

Educationย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Recreation Management, Hospitality, or a related field preferredย 

Experienceย 

  • 1โ€“3 years of experience as a pickleball teaching professional, racquet sports assistant, or in a comparable instruction and programming roleย 
  • Experienceย assistingย with or independently leading group clinics, structured play sessions, or youth programmingย 
  • Exposure to event coordination, member communications, or sports administration in a club, resort, or recreational setting preferredย 
  • Familiarity with club management software (Northstar a plus), Microsoft Office Suite, and digital communications platformsย
