Job description

Soccer Shots Virginia Beach/ Hampton Roads is seeking a positive and responsible individual, with a passion for soccer and early childhood education, to join our team as a youth soccer coach. Soccer Shots is a program that introduces soccer to children ages 2-8 at preschools and day care centers all over the Hampton Roads area. We're currently in need of a great coach that has a passion for soccer and working with kids to help us run sessions at several of our centers in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk. We're currently prioritizing educators and soccer coaches that live and can work in the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake area. Specific job experience in early childhood education and/or coaching is a big plus and highly recommended for this job.
Youth Soccer Coach Description: Classes are Monday through Friday in day care, preschool and after-school centers and Saturdays at park programs in select locations. Each session last 30-60 minutes depending on age group and program. We provide specific training for all coaches, coaching equipment, and all curriculum materials. We pay $18-$20 per session (depending upon experience within our program), for all qualified coaches, and at some centers there's the opportunity for multiple classes, which means you will be coaching 2-3 consecutive sessions on those days ($40-60 for 2 hours of coaching). We are prioritizing coaches that will be available for multiple sessions throughout the week. THIS PART-TIME YOUTH SOCCER COACH POSITION IS AVAILABLE FOR OUR SPRING SEASON-SUMMER SEASON (MAY-AUG.).
Essential Early Childhood Soccer Coach Qualifications:
  • Responsible - arrives early to set up each session, can handle a group of 10 or more children, keeps accurate attendance, communicates well with site director, teachers, etc.
  • Professional - neat in appearance, friendly and courteous with daycare center staff and self-assured.
  • Available - having at LEAST two weekdays available (mornings and afternoons) and/or Saturday mornings (9:00 am - 12:00pm), and must minimally commit May-August. We ARE NOT looking for Saturday only coaches at this time.
  • Enthusiastic - MUST enjoy early childhood education and working with young children, be able to confidently connect with children primarily ages 2-5, and must make the Soccer Shots class the best 30-45 minutes of their week!
  • Fun - enjoys having FUN with young children, being goofy, using your imagination, and watching children smile.
  • Patient - must be a patient person who understands young children.
  • Reliable transportation - must have your own safe and reliable transportation to and from work and a valid driver's license.
  • Background check cleared - successful candidate must pass a Child Abuse History Clearance and Background Check.
  • Tb test results must be completed for this job
  • Teach-most be able to effectively teach and manage a class of up to 10 children.

Preferred Early Childhood Soccer Coach Qualifications:
  • Youth soccer coach experience
  • Early Childhood Educator experience
  • Childcare experience
  • Soccer playing experience
  • Bachelor's degree (or pursuing) in Physical Education, Recreation, Early Childhood Education
  • CPR/First Aid certified or ability to attain if needed.
  • Previous teaching or early childhood education experience (preferably children ages 2-8)
