Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all day-to-day manufacturing operations at Hausbeck Pickle Company to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of food products. This role oversees production, sanitation, maintenance, warehouse, quality and continuous improvement initiatives while driving operational excellence, employee engagement, food safety, and regulatory compliance. The Plant Manager partners closely with leadership to achieve production goals, maintain customer satisfaction, and support the company’s culture and ESOP values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Management

· Lead all plant operations including production, quality, sanitation, maintenance, and warehouse functions.

· Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards.

· Monitor daily operational performance metrics including labor efficiency, downtime, waste, yield, and throughput.

· Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, reduce costs, and optimize plant performance.

· Coordinate with supply chain, quality, and customer service teams to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies.

Food Safety amp; Quality

· Ensure compliance with all FDA, USDA, GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC, and company food safety standards.

· Promote and enforce a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.

· Partner with Quality and EHS teams to maintain audit readiness and successful customer/regulatory inspections.

· Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Safety amp; Compliance

· Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.

· Lead safety initiatives, training, and accountability efforts to reduce workplace incidents.

· Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and company policies.

Leadership amp; Employee Development

· Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and department managers to build a high-performing team.

· Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture aligned with Hausbeck Pickle Company values.

· Support employee engagement, communication, and retention initiatives.

· Participate in hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, and succession planning.

· Promote ESOP ownership culture and encourage employee involvement and accountability.

· Support HR and EHS functions in upholding policies and procedures and continuous improvement

Financial amp; Strategic Management

· Manage plant operating budgets and control labor, material, and operational costs.

· Analyze operational data and prepare reports for leadership.

· Support capital improvement planning and equipment investment projects.

· Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and operational growth initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education and/or experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, Business, or related field preferred.

· Minimum 7–10 years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing.

· Prior experience managing plant operations in a USDA/FDA regulated environment strongly preferred.

· Strong knowledge of food safety standards, GMPs, HACCP, and audit processes.

· Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop teams.

· Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational KPI management.

· Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

· Strong understanding of the food industry.

· Good oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to efficiently coordinate work with co-workers.

· Ability to problem solve utilizing root cause analysis.

· Awareness of the safety and official procedures for handling goods and supplies.

· Ability to effectively manage time and meet set targets and deadlines.

· Strong organizational skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises Quality Manager, Maintenance Manager, Warehouse Manager, Production Superintendent, and Production Supervisors.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, and train personnel; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to walk distances through the facility.
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to twist/bend occasionally.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Provide necessary papers allowing holder to work legally in the United States.
