Job description

  1. SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

Under direction of Maintenance Supervisor, responsible for the general maintenance to the Spinning frames and to do related tasks as required.

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Report to assigned job at beginning of shift. (8:30AM- 5:30PM).
  2. Perform Preventive Maintenance in Spinning Frames:
    • Replace any bad bearings and bearing slides
    • Replace bad steel rollers, wheels, rotors, navel etc.
    • Put on new front rollers
    • Use roller picker to clean spinning machines
    • Clean tangible belts
    • Replace any tension bars broke
  1. Perform machine repairs as needed.
  2. Always place waste in designated containers, never leave on the floor when working on machines. (chokes, sliver etc.)
  3. Always use proper tools, equipment & PPE for the task at hand.
  4. Report any production or quality issues to management immediately.
  5. Report any unsafe work practices or conditions to management immediately.
  6. Perform all other job duties as assigned by the Production/Operations Manager.

3. SCOPE AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities


  1. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Employee must be able to communicate with the supervisor.
  • Previous experience in plant environment preferred.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  1. EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

High School or GED. Eighteen months of education and training beyond high school level in general repair or closely related technical area.

High school or GED and two years of experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failure.

  1. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee must be able to:

Bend, Reach, Push, Pull, Stoop.

Stand for long periods of time

Walk long distances every day

Lift up to 25 to 50 pounds

Distinguish colors.

  1. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Always wear hearing protection & safety glasses (where applicable).

Always wear safety glove when using utility knife.

Always wear dust mask (where applicable)

Always wear shoes that cover the entire foot, no open toes.

Always keep hair tied back.

Always observe good housekeeping by keeping cotton fibers or any foreign materials, debris off of the floor.


  1. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to tolerate indoor work, exposure to cotton dust and noise levels while working.
