Job description

Under limited supervision, performs maintenance work on machine tools, plant equipment and buildings must have the ability to work from written instructions, including manuals, drawings, sketches, schematics and/or verbal instructions to perform general maintenance tasks including but not limited to all necessary housekeeping functions in the office and factory.  Performs all types of general maintenance associated with plumbing, light carpentry, facility maintenance including general lighting using a high lift when necessary both indoor and outdoor. May assist in the moving of parts and/or material from one work center to another that includes the use of a fork truck or pallet mover.  Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs maintenance work on machine tools, plant equipment and buildings.
  • Must have the ability to work from written instructions, including manuals, drawings, sketches, schematics and/or verbal instructions when performing general maintenance tasks.
  • Performs all types of general maintenance associated with plumbing, light carpentry, facility maintenance including general lighting.
  • May assist in snow removal by various means and the moving or re-arranging furniture.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • May be required to drive the company vehicles for a variety of reasons including but not limited to picking up or delivering parts and materials, picking up or delivering personnel, acquiring shop materials and/or shop supplies.
  • Must also accurately maintain work logs, inventory and equipment control records, and preventive maintenance records for tasks performed.
  • Must adhere to all safety regulations and best practices.
  • Arrives to work on time, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
  • Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma and/or Associates degree, and related work experience in Mechanical repair, Plumbing and Electrical install and repair.  
  • 3-5 years’ experience either in a production or job shop environment, with at least 5 years related experience in building and equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a licensed Black Seal Boiler Mechanic.

REQUISITE SKILLS REQUIRED

Must be able to locate areas in need of repair, determine the necessary repair and perform the work using the appropriate tools including various hand tools and/or power tools while complying with all applicable safety measures.

EQUIPIMENT/MACHINERY USED

Requires a working knowledge of how to set-up and operate basic metal working tools including but not limited to lathes, drill presses, grinders, belt or disc sanders, band saws, chop saws and other power tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting up to 50lbs regularly and 75lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing.
