Schedule: Every Other Weekend, Self-Scheduling
Charting System: Epic (Recent Experience Required)
Float Required: Yes – Float Pool (MS, IMC, Observation, Trauma Surgical, Joint, Stroke, Palliative & Renal, ED Inpatient, Women's and Bariatric Surgery Units)
Call Requirement: None
Note: First-time travelers not accepted. Travel experience required. PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience required. Recent Epic experience required.

Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse – IMC Float Pool provides comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients requiring intermediate-level care across multiple hospital units. The RN will manage complex medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, renal, and trauma patients while utilizing advanced assessment skills, telemetry monitoring, and critical thinking to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job duties:

  1. • Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in IMC, PCU, Stepdown, Med/Surg Telemetry, and float pool settings.
  2. • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in patient condition.
  3. • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, insulin drips, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications per protocol.
  4. • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, telemetry readings, and dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions as needed.
  5. • Manage patients with acute respiratory distress, septic shock, hypertensive crisis, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, trauma, and neurological conditions.
  6. • Care for patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, ventilator support, and oxygen therapy.
  7. • Perform central line, PICC line, midline, peripheral IV, arterial line, and port management.
  8. • Provide care for patients receiving tube feedings, TPN, dialysis-related treatments, and blood transfusions.
  9. • Manage post-procedural and post-operative patients including cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, neurosurgical, orthopedic, and trauma patients.
  10. • Monitor and care for patients with chest tubes, drains, lumbar drains, neuro drains, PCA/PCEA devices, and feeding tubes.
  11. • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  12. • Respond to rapid response events, code situations, and other medical emergencies.
  13. • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR.
  14. • Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
  15. • Adhere to infection prevention, isolation precautions, and patient safety protocols.

Requirements:

Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License

Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Stepdown experience in a hospital setting required
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required
• Recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Travel experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Certifications:
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Other requirement:
• Recent Epic experience required (Hard Stop)
• Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation required
• Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drips required
• Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator management required
• Experience with blood transfusions, TPN, feeding tubes, and Peritoneal Dialysis required
• Must be comfortable with 1:4–1:6 patient ratios
