What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Piano Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Piano Technician, you need knowledge of piano construction, tuning techniques, and repair skills, typically gained through specialized training or certification. Familiarity with tools such as tuning forks, electronic tuning devices, and regulation kits is important, along with possible certifications from organizations like the Piano Technicians Guild. Attention to detail, patience, and strong customer service abilities help technicians build trust and deliver high-quality work. These skills are crucial to ensure instruments perform optimally and clients receive reliable, professional service.

What is Piano Hiring?

Piano hiring refers to the process of renting a piano for a specific period, rather than purchasing one. This service is commonly used for events, concerts, or personal use when a permanent piano is not needed. Piano hiring companies typically offer a range of piano types, such as grand, upright, or digital pianos, and may include delivery, setup, and tuning as part of the rental package. This option is convenient and cost-effective for those who need a piano temporarily.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals involved in piano hiring for events or institutions?

Professionals responsible for piano hiring often encounter challenges such as matching clients with the right instrument for their needs, coordinating logistics for delivery and setup, and ensuring the piano is properly maintained and tuned before use. They must also handle tight deadlines and adapt to various venue constraints. Effective communication with clients, movers, and technicians is essential to ensure a smooth hiring experience and high client satisfaction.

  • Organized and dependable, with initiative and strong follow-through
  • Excited about being part of our growing, thriving program at PCS
Requirements
We are seeking applicants with:
  • A degree in music
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A passion for teaching and making a difference in the lives of others
  • A willingness to consider a minimum 2–3 year commitment to PCS
Scheduling & Availability
This position is year-round, with the majority of teaching happening Monday through Friday during the early afternoons and evenings. Saturday teaching is optional.
About Us

If you’re looking for a place where your work matters, your relationships with students are valued, and you can teach in a positive, professional environment, we’d love to hear from you.
