Role Description The Piano Teacher is a part-time, on-site role based in Hillsborough, NJ. The teacher will provide individual piano lessons, focusing on technique, repertoire, sight-reading, and music theory appropriate to each student’s level. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, assessing student progress, assigning practice, and maintaining organized student records. The role involves communicating regularly with families about goals and progress, preparing students for recitals, exams, or auditions, and contributing to studio events and performances. The Piano Teacher is expected to support a safe, respectful, and motivating learning environment aligned with The Piano Studio’s educational standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong piano performance skills, including confident Piano Playing and command of Piano repertoire.
  • Background in Piano Education and Music Education, with experience teaching students of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Solid understanding of Music Theory and ability to integrate theory into practical piano instruction.
  • Knowledge of Piano pedagogy, including age-appropriate methods, technique development, and practice strategies.
  • Relevant degree or formal training in music or music education preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in a studio, school, or private lesson setting is highly beneficial.
  • Clear, patient communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual learner needs.
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and a commitment to punctuality and professional conduct.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Hillsborough, NJ and participate in studio recitals and events.
