Provides direct patient care in the acute care setting of the emergency department or inpatient area utilizing various nursing skills and established standards of care at the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities:
*Adheres to the LPN scope of practice
*Contributes to the assessment of the health status of individuals, families, and communities.
*Deliver direct patient care, including administering treatments as prescribed, assist nurses and physicians with various procedures and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken and patient responses.
*Adhering to LPN scope of practice administers prescribed medications, including medications given through established parenteral/intravenous infusions as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and document according to policy.
*Participates on interdisciplinary team to meet patient care and/or clinic needs, working cooperatively with others to accomplish required work in a timely and efficient manner.
*Document and report patient condition, care delivery and post procedure follow up.
*Assess changes in patient condition and report to registered nurse and provider as needed.
*Incorporates nursing activities that create a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff with the aim of promoting comfort and healing
*Applies Compassionate Connected Care principles and incorporates into care interactions
*Respectful and timely response in interactions with patient, family, health care team members
*Maintains efficient patient flow and assisting with treatments and procedures.
*Ensures safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care.
*Provides education for patients, significant others, and family using identified educational materials and resources under the direction of the registered nurse and provider
*Supports process/quality improvement initiatives and incorporation into practice

Qualifications:
*High School Diploma or GED
*Current Licensed Practical Nurse-NM
*PDS IV training as part of orientation
*BLS required
*Basic Cardiac Arrythmia (BCA) for areas with cardiac telemetry monitoring
*ACLS - within 6 months of hire for areas where required.
*Valid NM Drivers license; meet qualifications of PHS driver policy for areas - Home Health and Hospice only.
