Photography Production Manager information

What does a photography production manager do?

A Photography Production Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of photography projects from start to finish. They manage schedules, budgets, and logistics, ensuring that photo shoots run smoothly and meet client expectations. Their responsibilities often include hiring and coordinating photographers, stylists, and other crew, securing locations and permits, and handling post-production workflow. By managing the operational side of photography production, they allow creative teams to focus on delivering high-quality visuals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a photography production manager?

To excel as a Photography Production Manager, you need strong project management skills, experience in photography or visual arts, and often a bachelor's degree in a related field. Familiarity with digital asset management systems, photo editing software like Adobe Creative Suite, and production scheduling tools is typical for the role. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities help manage creative teams and client expectations. These competencies ensure efficient production workflows, high-quality deliverables, and successful collaboration in fast-paced creative environments.

How does a photography production manager typically coordinate with creative and technical teams during a photoshoot?

A Photography Production Manager acts as the central point of communication between photographers, stylists, art directors, and technical crew to ensure every aspect of the shoot runs smoothly. They develop detailed production schedules, handle logistics like location scouting and equipment rentals, and address any on-set challenges that may arise. Effective collaboration is essential, as the manager must balance creative vision with budget and time constraints, facilitating pre-shoot briefings and post-shoot evaluations to align all team members and deliver the desired results.

Media Specialist - Product Photography & Video Production

EVERGREEN

Richmond, VA

Full-time

Re-posted 14 days ago

Job description

Evergreen Enterprises is seeking a hands-on Media Specialist to support product photography, product video, styling, editing, and AI-assisted content production within a high-volume creative studio.

Evergreen is a photography-first product studio. This role will support both photography and video needs across silo product photography, lifestyle photography, product detail shots, ecommerce video, quick product clips, and campaign content. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in the basics of photography and video, including exposure, lighting, composition, color, product accuracy, and attention to detail.

This is a development-focused role for someone who is passionate about building a career in photo and video production. The right candidate does not need to be an expert in every area, but must show strong fundamentals, a willingness to learn, a good eye, and the ability to grow within our existing studio systems.

This role also supports Evergreen’s growing AI-assisted workflow, moving from silo product photography to lifestyle imagery, product environments, and quick video clips for B2B, D2C, ecommerce, sales, social media, brand campaigns, and product launches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture and support product photography for silo, lifestyle, product detail, ecommerce, sales, and campaign needs.
  • Capture and edit product-focused video for ecommerce, PDP, sales, social media, and brand campaign use.
  • Utilize camera operation, lighting, product setup, styling, and composition skills to own the physical setup and execution of assigned photo and video shots.
  • Maintain a high standard of product accuracy across photo, video, and AI-assisted content, including color, scale, texture, artwork, materials, features, and final presentation.
  • Support the Sr. Video Producer with product video production, editing, quick product clips, campaign content, and post-production needs.
  • Provide flexible support across silo photography, lifestyle photography, product styling, studio set build-outs, and video production as priorities shift.
  • Assist with AI-assisted workflows for lifestyle image creation, product environments, image enhancement, video support, and quick content development.
  • Use AI tools responsibly to improve speed, creative flexibility, and content output while protecting product accuracy and brand standards.
  • Partner with photography, video, creative, ecommerce, product development, sales, and marketing teams to understand asset needs and deadlines.
  • Organize, name, edit, export, and deliver final assets according to studio, DAM, PIM, and channel requirements.
  • Maintain studio equipment, props, samples, and workspaces in a clean and organized manner.

Requirements

  • A portfolio, reel, website, or work samples demonstrating both photo and/or video production experience is required for consideration.
  • Portfolio should show an understanding of basic exposure, lighting, composition, color, and visual storytelling.
  • Foundational hands-on experience in photography, video, editing, lighting, and/or styling.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around product accuracy, color, styling, file quality, naming, and final asset delivery.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, or related production tools.
  • Interest in learning AI creative tools for image generation, lifestyle scene creation, video support, editing support, or production efficiency.
  • Ability to shift between photography, video, editing, AI-assisted content, and general studio support as priorities change.
  • Strong organization, communication, follow-through, and ability to manage details in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-volume studio environment.
  • Positive team-player mentality with a willingness to learn, take feedback, and jump in where needed.
  • Familiarity with DAM, PIM, ecommerce asset delivery, Excel, or production databases is a plus.
  • Degree in photography, video, media production, design, marketing, or related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to lift and move products, props, and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Experience

  • Product photography, product video, studio photography, ecommerce, retail, wholesale, or consumer products experience.
  • Experience with home décor, garden, seasonal, gift, sports licensed products, or similar consumer goods.
  • Experience creating simple product videos, social media clips, ecommerce content, or campaign support assets.
  • Experience using tools such as Adobe Firefly, Photoshop generative tools, Higgsfield, Runway, Midjourney, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with DAM/PIM workflows, file naming standards, and high-volume asset production.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a developing photo and video creator with strong fundamentals, a good eye, and a genuine interest in product-based studio work. This person should be comfortable learning within an established studio system and supporting multiple areas of production rather than focusing on only one narrow specialty.

They should be detail-oriented, coachable, dependable, and team-focused, with the humility to learn from senior team members and the work ethic to grow into the role. The right candidate will care about product accuracy as much as creative polish and will help the studio stay agile across photography, video, AI-assisted content, ecommerce, sales, social media, and brand campaign needs.

Evergreen Enterprises is a leading wholesale manufacturer of home, garden, and licensed sports products, with a growing portfolio of B2B digital experiences and ecommerce platforms. We sell direct to thousands of independent retailers nationwide and continue to invest in modern digital tools, customer experience, and ecommerce innovation.
