JOB SUMMARY:
The Utah Mammoth is excited to offer an internship opportunity for a Photography Intern to help enhance the Mammoth's presence and engage with our fan base for the 2026-27 season. This role is perfect for someone passionate about hockey and photography who is looking to gain hands-on experience in digital media management and sports photography within a professional sports environment. The intern will be responsible for capturing key moments at morning skates, practices, home games, and community events, assisting in the maintenance of our photography database, and supporting the content team in updating visual content across Utah Mammoth digital platforms. This is an in-person internship based in Sandy, Utah. Candidates must be able to independently commute to our office in Sandy, Utah for practices and morning skates, as well as to the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah to assist with coverage of home games.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain Photo Database and Tagging: Under direction of the Utah Mammoth photographer, work on maintaining the photo database, including tagging and gallery management. Edit, organize, and prepare images for social media, website use, and other digital channels. Ensure images are tagged accurately for ease of access and optimized for various digital uses.
  • Assist Photographer: Support the Utah Mammoth photographer with daily tasks. Support the content team in developing visual content that captures the spirit of the team, fans, and community.
  • Website Management: Generate fresh and innovative content ideas to be used throughout the hockey season. Stay proactive in suggesting approaches to enhance the Utah Mammoth website through photo galleries, and more.
  • Photography: Assist with shooting high-quality photos during morning skates, practices, home games at the Delta Center, community events, and other team activities for use in social media and website content.
  • Event Promotion: Aid in promoting team events, games, and special initiatives through photography and website updates.
  • Research and Trends: Stay current with the latest photography trends and best practices. Apply this knowledge to optimize our content and strategy.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the broader content team to ensure visual content aligns with overall marketing objectives and strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Photography, Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field, or a recent graduate.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate and implement new ideas.
  • Photo and video shooting skills preferred, with proficiency in editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to independently commute to our office in Sandy, Utah, as well as to the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • Flexibility to assist the content team, including evenings and weekends, and a proactive, hands-on approach to tasks.
  • Passion for hockey and a general understanding of the sport is beneficial.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
  • This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
