BlackSky is seeking a hands-on Marketing Content Specialist to bring marketing strategies and messages to life across various, primarily digital, channels. In this role, you will create high-quality, compelling content across multiple platforms, including our website, social media, email, blog, customer presentations and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of content and social media marketing, excellent writing and multimedia skills and a bias for action. To be successful, you must be detail-oriented and organized, while taking proactively taking ownership of projects and assignments. This hybrid position is based in Seattle, Washington, and be responsible for capturing visual content in BlackSky's offices and reports to the Senior Director, Marketing.
Responsibilities
  • Implement content marketing plans that align with the overall marketing goals and priorities.
  • Create engaging and informative written content for blogs, social media posts, email campaigns, newsletters and website copy.
  • Manage BlackSky social media channels, to include calendaring and planning, content creation and engagement management.
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots to capture new content for promotion, in addition to capturing regular photo and video yourself.
  • Analyze content performance using analytics tools to track engagement and suggest improvements.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure content is visually appealing and aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Create graphics and visuals in alignment with brand guidelines for use across digital channels.
  • Assist in developing editorial calendars and campaign timelines.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, content marketing best practices and competitor digital content strategies.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, English, or Business (or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree).
  • At least 4 years of experience in content marketing, corporate marketing or digital marketing.
  • Previous experience managing corporate social media accounts for B2B or B2G.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the capacity to explain and translate complex technology concepts into simple and intuitive narrative.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly for the purposes of photo editing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, even when managing multiple deadlines.
  • An understanding of basic design concepts.
  • Proven ability to work with and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) to measure content effectiveness.
  • Strong research skills and willingness to take initiative on projects.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the aerospace, defense or technology industries.
  • Experience in video or multimedia content creation.

The anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $85,000-95,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Seattle, WA.
