PMI Kyoto Packaging Systems is looking for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team in our Elk Grove Village office!

Our Engineers manage a wide range of responsibilities-from project management, to design, to manufacturing oversight. This makes PMI Kyoto an ideal learning environment for anyone wishing to become a complete, well-rounded engineer in the automation industry or those looking to expand their experience level in a more senior-level Electrical Controls Engineering role.
Responsibilities:
  • Select components and layout electrical control panels
  • Select sensors and pneumatic control components
  • Understand the UL508A and NEC for control system design
  • Write, modify, and debug PLCs, HMIs and Kinetix servo motion control programs
  • Create electrical schematics, bill of material based on, but not limited to, the instructions given
  • Be proficient in every control aspect from budgeting time, cost control, choosing quality and reliable product
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Assist in the development of standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed within the department
  • Read and interpret customer specifications
  • Modify and create machine electrical schematics
  • Possess good logical code writing, debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Work closely and collaborate work with Mechanical Engineering members
  • Work closely under management directions but not limited to achieve own decisions in making process more efficient, within budget and on time
  • Communicate over phone with customers to assist in troubleshooting installed systems
  • Travel to customer sites for system installation, modifications, and all aftermarket electrical controls needs
  • Train and work closely with entry level Electrical Controls Engineers

Requirements:
  • More than 5 years of experience in Allen-Bradley PLC's, HMI's, AutoCAD
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Experienced with electrical/controls aspect of machine design, has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Literate using AutoCAD for all electrical design purposes
  • Familiar with selection and use of commercial products like photo sensors, pneumatics, vision systems, hot melt systems, etc.
  • Proficient in PLC code and motion controls
  • Understanding of-or ability to learn-industrial writing concepts
  • Understanding of machine timing concepts
  • Experience electrical schematic software (AutoCad light, SolidWorks Electrical is a plus)
  • Exposure to and interest in PLC and HMI programming, multi-axes coordinated motion control
  • Good electro-mechanical skills and understanding
  • Interest in hands-on machine work with sensor and actuator adjustments
  • Strong organizational and communicational skills
