American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Oxnard, California.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3b NICU position requiring 2-3 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.

Details
  • Level 3b NICU with 16 beds, expanding to 20 within a year
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:3 for feeder/grower infants
  • Cares for all gestational ages including premature infants, sepsis, cooling patients, and substance abuse/withdrawal cases
  • Patients requiring surgery are transferred out
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • Utilizes Aveya, bubble CPAP, Vapotherm, and oscillator ventilators
  • Charge nurse present on unit; no nurse aides
  • 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy and pharmacy support
  • On-call neonatologist coverage (2 full-time, 1 part-time)
  • 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p
  • Every other weekend requirement
  • Floats to L&D or postpartum to care for babies
  • Floor-specific orientation of 2-3 shifts
  • Holiday coverage worked in with permanent staff
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • 2-3 years of Level 3 NICU experience required
  • Cooling experience preferred
  • Experience attending deliveries preferred
  • Travel nurse experience preferred
  • Spanish-speaking skills preferred
  • No ECMO experience required
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Uses Philips telemetry/monitoring equipment; no dedicated monitor tech
  • No IV team support on the unit
  • No previous employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities within the past year
