What You Will Do:

The Manager in the Advanced Materials Group is responsible for leading a group of engineers and technicians tasked with development, validation, and implementation of special technology materials with a focus on high temperature exhaust system materials for state-of-the-art jet engine applications. The preferred candidate will support the career development of a subset of engineers and technicians and assist in day-to-day activities where needed. Other responsibilities include working closely with the Advanced Materials & Composites lab facilitator with the maintenance of lab equipment. Help ensure the team has the proper staffing and resources to execute development programs from initial proof of concept through production implementation. Interface with internal engineering customers and external customers in support of defining materials needs and requirements. Setting technical direction, budget and schedule of select programs and/ or projects and coordinating development activities with the Special Technologies Program Office. Contributing to the development of a company wide application strategy that spans development to production transition. Work with organization leadership to help secure program funding aligned with the execution of our material development technology strategy. Meeting all Security requirements for a Special Access Facility, and complying with all Environmental Health & Safety and Preventative Maintenance requirements for all special technology development laboratories. Assisting with proposing and executing capital improvements for the laboratories under his/her direction and driving Quality Management System and Engineering Standard Work improvement activities.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • A university degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years’ experience
  • or An MS or PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years’ experience
  • Candidate must hold an active US DOD Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Additional experience in high temperature coatings is desirable.
  • Experience with the development and testing of composites, ceramics, coatings, mechanical and electromagnetic property testing of materials, and supplier and customer management.
  • Prior management or team leadership experience is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
