Job description

Evergreen (Pipeline) Requisition


This requisition is used to build a pipeline of qualified candidates for future opportunities. While there may not be an immediate opening, candidates will be considered as positions become available based on their qualifications and program needs.


Odyssey is seeking experienced Acquisition Program Engineers (Systems, Mechanical, and Software) to join our talent community for anticipated opportunities supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Armament Directorate and other Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs.


Our Engineers support the government with designing, developing, integrating, and sustaining complex weapon systems and associated technologies across the full acquisition lifecycle. This includes systems engineering, mechanical design and analysis, and software development activities to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and mission requirements.


Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Support engineering activities across all phases of the DoD acquisition lifecycle (Materiel Solution Analysis through Operations & Support)
  • Perform systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or software engineering functions depending on area of expertise
  • Support requirements development, analysis, traceability, and verification
  • Conduct system design, integration, and technical analysis activities
  • Develop and review technical documentation, including specifications, interface documents, and engineering reports
  • Support technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR) and program milestone activities
  • Collaborate with program management, logistics, test, and cybersecurity teams to ensure integrated system performance
  • Analyze system performance and recommend design or process improvements
  • Support risk identification, analysis, and mitigation planning
  • Provide technical input to acquisition documentation and program decision-making

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Secret

Education and experience:

All engineering degrees must be from an ABET-accredited institution (or equivalent IRD). Engineering Technology degrees do not qualify.

  • Journeyman: Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5 years of relevant experience;
    OR Master’s degree in engineering and 3 years of relevant experience
  • Senior: Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 20 years of relevant experience;
    OR Master’s degree in engineering and 15 years of relevant experience;
    OR PhD in engineering and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Principal: PhD in engineering and 25 years of relevant experience;
    OR Master’s degree and 25 years of relevant experience and recognized at a national level in a relevant technical field
  • Experience supporting DoD acquisition programs or equivalent engineering environments
  • Experience supporting system development, integration, or sustainment activities

Preferred Qualifications

Clearance: Top Secret (TS) or TS/SCI

Experience:

  • Experience supporting AFLCMC or other Air Force organizations
  • Experience with armament systems (air-to-air, air-to-surface munitions, missiles, or related systems)
  • Experience supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs
  • Strong knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle processes and DoDI 5000 series
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS), modeling tools (e.g., SysML), or software development environments

Technical Skills

  • Systems engineering processes (requirements, integration, verification, validation)
  • Mechanical design, analysis, and materials or structural engineering (as applicable)
  • Software development, integration, and testing (as applicable)
  • Familiarity with engineering tools, modeling, and simulation environments
  • Risk management and technical problem-solving
  • Configuration management and technical documentation

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to operate independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
