Human Resources (HR) Specialist
Duluth, MN | Full Time | $45,000 - $49,000 per year
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Human Resources Specialist for a local organization in the Duluth area. This is a great opportunity for an organized, people-focused professional who enjoys recruiting, employee support, training, and helping keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.
The HR Specialist will work closely with leadership and employees throughout the organization while gradually taking on responsibility for managing a wide range of Human Resources functions.
This position is primarily day shift but may require some flexibility based on staffing and program needs. The role works in a busy, people-focused environment and may occasionally require physical activity, including bending, standing, walking, kneeling, and assisting or supporting individuals with mobility needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees
  • Coordinate new-hire training and ongoing employee training requirements
  • Assist leadership in identifying staffing needs and making personnel decisions
  • Coordinate employee performance reviews, wage increases, PTO accruals, and benefits eligibility
  • Maintain accurate electronic employee records and HR documentation
  • Manage employee schedules and review schedule changes, PTO requests, overtime, call-outs, and coverage needs
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding policies, workplace questions, and professional development
  • Coordinate CPR/First Aid and other required employee training

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in Human Services or related field
  • Previous experience in Human Resources, recruiting, employee relations, office management, or a related administrative role is beneficial
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background study
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work with kindness and professionalism around individuals with varying intellectual and physical abilities
