Job description

Human Factors Engineer - Technical Specialist II in GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:
On any given day, you may:
  • Design and lead part task simulation evaluations for detailed design requirement definition using software and physical mockups, or predictive modeling tools.
  • Prepare, develop, and execute part task and/or simulator or flight test plans that utilize data measurement techniques such as rating scales, questionnaires, and performance measurement calculation.
  • Guide project recommendations and mentor team in selecting any applying appropriate anthropometric modeling tools to design concept analysis.
  • Develop trade studies on system design concepts and present human factors requirement recommendations to multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Apply appropriate data analysis methods (descriptive or inferential statistics).
  • Create and supervise operational tests to demonstrate human factors compliance to regulations and prepare engineering reports to substantiate compliance with Human Factors certification regulations.
  • Document certification testing in final engineering reports.
  • Develop and supervise human error analysis worksheets to substantiate Human Factors certification compliance.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams in analysis of system design to arrive at integrated solutions.
  • Research and integrate new or innovative predictive tools to apply to future design development.
  • Develop standards and guides for human factors methods.
  • Represent Gulfstream in industry and/or regulatory committee design guidance and/or regulations to support design aspects.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Prior aviation/aerospace human factors engineering experience in industry.
  • Experience with basic research methods and use of human subjects in evaluations and experiments.
  • Exercise sound judgement in selecting appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to response complex issues.
  • Experience with data analysis methods and familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Minitab, etc.)
  • Experience with planning programs and successful completion of programs with integration and human-machine interface aspects.
  • Works well without detailed supervision.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to cross-functional team.
  • Ability to interact with senior internal/external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills; Ability to clearly and concisely convey technical and non-technical concepts to all management levels.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with advanced task analysis methods
  • Experience with biomechanics and time study theories
  • Experience with sensation and perception research
  • Experience with simulation software (e.g., CATIA V5 Human Builder, NX Jack, 3DSSPP, OPTIS SPEOS, iData)
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS)
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma philosophies
  • Flying experience (e.g., PPL, CPL, ATP)

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 10 yrs in specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

  2. Is consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field .
  3. Anticipates and resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities .
  4. Approach to problem solving balances technical product, cost and schedule .
  5. Works without appreciable direction; work is reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results .
  6. Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative .

Additional Functions:
  1. Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product .
