Job Summary

The Systems Administrator role is an advanced technical role primarily responsible for network, server and advanced technical services administration with a secondary end user support responsibility. The Systems Administrator manages specific network server and infrastructure services as assigned, while also providing daily end user support. This advanced position plays a key role in evaluating and recommending new technical solutions across the organization.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage server and network infrastructure components such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, wired/wireless network design and server security updates
  • Manage physical and virtual servers
  • Manage advanced technical solutions such as voice services and cyber-security platforms
  • Implement new hardware and software solutions
  • Lead or assist research, selection and implementation of new technical solutions
  • Develop efficient hardware/software deployment and management processes
  • Coordinate additional support from vendors and contractors as needed
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance while minimizing end-user down time
  • Manage and maintain various application platforms
  • Ability to manage constant technology changes, staying up-to-date with emerging technologies



Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide end-user technical support leveraging a helpdesk platform
  • Deploy desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices and peripheral devices
  • Automate repetitive tasks leveraging automation tools and scripting solutions
  • Provide end user support including user and computer provisioning and support



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have an advanced technical skillset primarily in networking, cyber security and/or similar technical platforms
  • Experience with the following Microsoft technologies
  • Windows Server (within 2 releases of current)
  • Windows (within 2 releases of current)
  • Active Directory/Azure/Entra
  • Microsoft 365/SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams
  • Experience in the following technologies preferred
  • Virtualization platforms including Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Services such as DNS, DHCP, file/print services, data backup
  • Hewlett-Packard/Aruba network hardware including switches and wireless equipment
  • Apple technology support including iPhones and Mac desktop solutions
  • Desire for continuous learning through technical and business training
  • Strong communication skills and etiquette, both verbal and written, demonstrated ability to write quality documentation.
  • Able to work well with others cooperatively and courteously
  • Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Can identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Proficient in arithmetic and competently apply it in an office environment
  • Self-starter who can lead projects, work independently and carry out assignments to completion with minimum instruction while adhering to established routines and practices
  • Must have an excellent work ethic and attendance
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage high-pressure situations
