Job description

What if you could redefine what's possible? With us, you can.

You want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it.
We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers.
With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science-based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions. We are pathfinders and impact makers.
We are Visioneers. We are WSP.

The Opportunity

Your Impact Starts Here - Are you ready to tackle some of the most complex and rewarding challenges in the industry? In this role, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with brilliant minds and contribute to high-profile projects that are changing the landscape of our world.

WSP's RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada. The team consists of environmental technicians, project coordinators, project managers, technical experts, and qualified professionals. We have been providing contaminated site program management services to the worlds most technically focused companies for over 15 years. We consistently have backlog of 9 to 12 months and provide growth opportunities for our high performing team members. We specialize in health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment and remediation. Our team takes on the biggest Canadian projects from coast to coast to coast. The projects range in type, size and complexity, and the successful candidate will be able to utilize the team strengths to manage a large amount of field work efficiently and effectively.

Our dynamic team is growing, and we have a new opportunity for an Environmental Scientist with 3-6 years experience to work in a multi-disciplinary team that solves complex issues for our clients. The position is for the Remediation Program Management (RPM) team which has offices across Canada.

Your Impact

  • Be part of a Canadian-based firm, applying and expanding your technical, client delivery and project delivery skills.
  • As a part of our team, we each bring our lived experiences in hand, where we have the power to design a place where people, friends, families and neighbours can thrive.
  • Maintain a work-life balance, logging in remotely or attending the office in a hybrid work solution of 3 days a week in the office.
  • Clearly identify and understand project objectives, bringing your ideas and solutions to your project manager, project directors, mentors and developing well understood specific work instructions and health and safety plans.
  • Develop your career by having several different mentors to plan, adjust and grow your career at WSP.
  • Guided by our Zero Harm policy and rigorous Health, Safety and Environment standards, with your knowledge and experience, support the development and improvement of project health and safety plans.
  • Participate and be a member of a 10-20 person client-specific delivery team, while at the same time leveraging the experience and expertise of the entire RPM group.
  • Have a really complex technical issue?  Engage with a Practice Area Network (PAN) who may have experienced the same issue in Australia, Malaysia, or even exotic locations like Saskatoon.
  • Apply your love for the outdoors and complete fieldwork assignments centered around the Alberta foothills, and at locations within Western/Northern Canada (up to 50%).
  • Gain the experience to plan, lead or work on some of the most interesting and technically challenging environmental projects in Western and Northern Canada.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Can't get enough of the outdoors, and understand office work is also part of the job (up to 50%).
  • You would like to be paid to see and explore different parts of Western and Northern Canada,  then this job is for you.
  • Volunteered (and also somehow chosen) to be the leader of your class projects.
  • Have excellent communication skills and are the default person coordinating activities with your friends and family.
  • Likes to rub soil on their teeth to texture it (but doesn't because it might be contaminated).
  • Can't get enough learning.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 to 6 years experience in the environmental industry.
  • Asset to have health and safety training related to the oil and gas industry.
