Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Certified Outpatient Pharmacy Tech, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Pharmacist and ensuring efficient medication order processing and distribution in an outpatient setting.
Every day, you will assist the Pharmacist in prioritizing medication orders and determining routine daily department needs. You will perform essential medication order functions including interpretation, preparation, drug distribution, and quality assurance. A core part of your role involves providing exemplary customer service and respect during all interactions with patients, customers, and healthcare providers. Additionally, you will provide direction and guidance to other technicians and pharmacy interns during their training in drug distribution and operational matters.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong organizational skills for prioritizing tasks and a meticulous approach to medication order functions. Your ability to provide exceptional customer service, adhere to assigned schedules, and offer guidance to colleagues will be paramount in maintaining efficient and high-quality outpatient pharmacy services.

  • Receives prescriptions from patient and clarifies any needed/required information.
  • Ensures that all regulatory requirements of each prescription are met before processing the order.
  • Prioritizes prescriptions to be filled in the order of importance and urgency.
  • Accurately interprets and enters information from patient prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Communicates any problems or questions with prescriptions to Pharmacist for guidance and proper triaging.
  • Accurately selects the correct drug and dispenses the correct quantity when preparing medications.
Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Pharmacy Tech National PTCB required within six (6) months of hire
  • Active Pharmacy Tech License(KS) Certification(CO) or Provisional Certification(CO)
  • Attains professional growth by attending or participating in a minimum of ten (10) hours of continuing education annually

Preferred

  • Prior retail or hospital outpatient pharmacy technician experience
