Job Title: Pharmacy Retail Supervisor

Department: Pharmacy Services - Retail Operations'

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Retail Supervisor is responsible for the diligent oversight and efficient management of the daily operations within the pharmacy's retail section. This pivotal role ensures the delivery of high-quality customer service, effective inventory management, and proficient supervision of front-end staff. The Supervisor acts as a crucial liaison, fostering seamless communication and collaboration between pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and retail staff to guarantee smooth, compliant, and highly efficient retail operations that uphold Athena Medtech's standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership & Supervision:
    • Supervise the day-to-day activities of the retail pharmacy area, ensuring consistently high standards of customer service, operational efficiency, and adherence to established protocols.
    • Provide direct supervision, training, scheduling, and performance management for pharmacy support staff, including cashiers and pharmacy assistants, fostering a productive and positive team environment.
  • Inventory & Merchandising Management:
    • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels for retail products, including over-the-counter (OTC) medications, health products, and general merchandise.
    • Coordinate effectively with suppliers for timely stock replenishment, manage product returns, and resolve any inventory discrepancies.
    • Ensure the proper storage, accurate labeling, and attractive display of all retail products in compliance with regulatory guidelines and merchandising standards.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:
    • Implement, enforce, and ensure strict adherence to all company policies, operational procedures, and relevant regulatory compliance, including HIPAA, state pharmacy laws, and privacy standards.
    • Collaborate closely with pharmacists to support accurate and efficient prescription fulfillment processes, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Customer Experience & Problem Resolution:
    • Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and efficiently, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
    • Champion a customer-centric approach among the retail team, promoting a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Financial & Marketing Support:
    • Assist in various aspects of financial reporting, including sales tracking, monitoring budget adherence, and implementing strategies for shrinkage control.
    • Support marketing initiatives and in-store promotions, actively promoting health products and participating in community health campaigns.
  • Work Environment Maintenance:
    • Maintain consistently clean, safe, and organized retail and work areas, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of progressive experience in a retail pharmacy environment is required.
    • At least one (1) year of demonstrable supervisory or team lead experience in a retail setting is essential.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven ability to motivate, train, and manage a team effectively.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and empathetic demeanor.
    • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems (e.g., PioneerRx, QS/1, McKesson, or similar).
    • Solid knowledge of general retail operations, inventory control best practices, and customer privacy standards (HIPAA).
    • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Working Conditions:

  • May require standing for extended periods during operational hours.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet operational demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or an equivalent certification.
  • Bilingual communication skills are a significant asset, particularly for serving diverse patient populations.
