Job description

Pharmacy Technician

Our team of doctors, advanced care providers, nurses, therapists, and researchers provides the region's most advanced medicine at multiple facilities, campuses, clinics, and classrooms. Responsibilities
  • Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients.
  • Dispense and package medications under the direction of the on-duty pharmacist.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensure and federal, state, and local laws and regulations; observe the pharmacy's policies on "best practices".
  • Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints.
  • Assume on-call responsibilities in accordance with pharmacy guidelines.
  • Report product incidents as required in accordance with pharmacy policy.
  • Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
  • Participate in the pharmacy's Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
  • Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
  • Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.
  • Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities and certification requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by pharmacist.
  • The following functions require the professional judgment of a pharmacist and may not be performed by a pharmacy technician:
    • Acceptance of verbal prescriptions.
    • Certification of filled prescriptions.
    • Entry of orders into the computer system without verification by pharmacist.
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
