Emmons Pharmacy is a privately-owned IDD, Specialty amp; Hospice pharmacy located in Houston, TX. We are a customer-focused pharmacy, providing state-of-the-art pharmacy care in a family-friendly atmosphere. We offer a variety of services not offered by chain pharmacies that help people better manage their medications, lower overall healthcare costs, and improve outcomes with greater independence.

Position: Certified Pharmacy Technician (Logistics-Focused)

As a Pharmacy Technician for Emmons Pharmacy, you do more than just work a pharmacy assembly line—you make a difference where it matters most, in the lives of patients under medical care. This role combines traditional pharmacy technician responsibilities with a strong focus on logistics coordination for a high-volume hospice pharmacy operation.

You will work closely with the Logistics Manager to ensure efficient routing, timely deliveries, and optimal use of drivers and resources, while also supporting pharmacy operations as needed.


PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Organize and process prescription orders to shipment and delivery
  • Assist with prescription fulfillment where necessary
  • Follow all State, Federal and HIPAA laws surrounding prescription processing
  • Perform data entry where applicable
  • Utilize automation for prescription processing

LOGISTICS amp; OPERATIONS DUTIES
  • Coordinate and manage daily delivery operations for 100+ deliveries per day in a hospice pharmacy setting.
  • Create, optimize, and adjust delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Dispatch and manage drivers, including real-time problem solving and route adjustments.
  • Monitor delivery performance and ensure on-time delivery to patients and facilities.
  • Communicate proactively with pharmacy staff, drivers, and clients regarding delivery status and issues.
  • Utilize available resources efficiently to improve workflow and reduce delivery delays.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within logistics and workflow systems.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Manager to maintain smooth daily operations and meet service expectations.
  • Step into pharmacy workflow to assist with prescription processing, data entry, and fulfillment when needed.

SECONDARY DUTIES
  • May operate filling equipment and assist in other areas as needed.
  • Address and solve problems affecting compounding and filling quality.
  • Use good time management; perform work safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all company regulations and PPE requirements.
  • Assist other departments as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Operate automated dispensing machinery.
  • Handle inbound phone requests and gather information for pharmacist consultations.
  • Perform data entry as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and leadership.
  • Support both pharmacy production and logistics workflow as required.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following:

Qualifications:
  • Current Texas Pharmacy Technician license or National Pharmacy Technician Certification required
  • 1–3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
  • Experience in logistics, dispatching, routing, or operations coordination strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • 1 year experience in customer service and working with healthcare professionals required
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel preferred
  • Experience with IPS, DigitalRX, EliteXtra Pharmacy system is a plus
