Job Description:

Job Title: PFC Pharmacy Technician, Non-Certified

Department: Pharmacy Fulfillment Center

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

Works in a fast-paced production environment known as an automated Central Fill Pharmacy. Assist pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications.

Reporting Relations

Accountable and Reports to: AVP, Pharmacy Services; FC Pharmacy Manager; Pharmacist; Lead Technician

Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies.
  • Handles inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
  • Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers.
  • Assists in adherence to quality assurance standards.
  • Gain complete understanding of Hy-Vee's retail pharmacy operations and, offering avenues to better serve them.
  • Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel.
  • Orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies.
  • Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area.
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Adheres to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a non-certified pharmacy technician.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours.
  • Manually counts medication quantities and replenishes medication cells as needed.
  • Replaces empty medication cells and brings full cells to robots

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in areas as needed.
  • Performs other related job duties and special projects as required.
  • Assist in stocking of pharmacy supplies

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Working towards a licensed technician certification through a certified national program.

Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, field of vision, and color vision.
  • Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a production setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis.
