Pharmacist
Location: Austin, TX
Pay Rate: Starting at $76.00/hour
Schedule: Day Shift 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (10-hour variable shifts, rotating weekends)

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a highly skilled and clinically driven Pharmacist to support a leading, patient-centered healthcare system in Austin, TX. This role is ideal for an experienced hospital pharmacist who is passionate about delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care, ensuring medication safety, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes. You will play a critical role in managing medication therapy, preventing drug-related problems, and supporting patients across all age groups in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with hospital policies

  • Evaluate medication therapy based on patient diagnosis, allergies, weight, body surface area, drug interactions, and laboratory values

  • Identify, prevent, and resolve actual or potential medication-related problems to optimize patient outcomes

  • Prepare, verify, and dispense medications while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety

  • Ensure medications are processed and delivered within established turnaround times

  • Prepare sterile medications using proper aseptic technique while maintaining infection control standards

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal pharmaceutical care

  • Accurately document medication orders and clinical interventions using EPIC or other electronic medical record systems

  • Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and pharmacy quality standards

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support continuous patient safety efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required

  • Current, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist (RPh) license required

  • Minimum two (2) years of hospital pharmacy experience required; pediatric experience preferred

  • Completion of 40 hours of ACPE or ASHP-accredited sterile compounding training required

  • Experience with sterile compounding and aseptic technique

  • Proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems preferred

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and clinical pharmacy practices

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment
