Pharmacist - Night Shift

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $71.00/hour

Schedule: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM | 7 shifts on / 7 shifts off

Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced and patient-focused Pharmacist to support a leading pediatric healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Texas Pharmacist who has hospital experience and a strong background in medication preparation, clinical pharmacy services, and sterile compounding.

The 7-on/7-off overnight schedule offers an excellent opportunity for pharmacists seeking a predictable schedule and extended time off while making a meaningful impact on patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care for patients ranging from infants through adulthood.
  • Review medication orders for appropriateness based on diagnosis, weight, body surface area, allergies, drug interactions, and other patient-specific factors.
  • Accurately enter, verify, and process medication orders in the pharmacy information system.
  • Ensure medications are dispensed accurately and delivered within established timeframes.
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve actual or potential drug-related problems.
  • Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with hospital policies, pharmacy standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare sterile products using proper aseptic technique and infection control practices.
  • Maintain high standards for medication safety and minimize medication errors through careful order review and verification.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy and patient outcomes.
  • Provide medication-related guidance and support to patients, families, and members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy documentation and comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing competency assessments, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support and promote proper aseptic technique and infection control practices among pharmacy staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Pharm.D., or equivalent pharmacy degree required.
  • Current, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist (RPh) license required.
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital staff pharmacist experience preferred, particularly experience with medication preparation.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and aseptic technique preferred.
  • Completion of 20 hours of sterile compounding training accredited by ACPE or ASHP preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medication safety, drug interactions, dosing, and clinical pharmacy practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively during overnight shifts.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance.
