ROLE SUMMARY
The Machine Operator 1 role supports the day-to-day manufacturing operations through the conversion of raw materials into finished products at a medical cannabis facility. This role is responsible for ensuring their work meets all quality and efficiency standards. Activities may span the entire manufacturing cycle of cannabis products, from botanical preparation to final product packaging. The ideal candidate will excel in repetitious tasks, with expertise in food/pharmaceutical manufacturing, and a strong attention to detail. Machine operators are responsible for the specific functions related to machinery, which include configuring equipment, loading and operating machines, and optimizing their performance. They must ensure the machines are operating at full capacity, oversee maintenance, and conduct regular quality checks. They should be self-motivated and open to training when necessary to understand the operation of new equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform machine calibration before production starts.
• Regularly inspect and clean the machines.
• Monitor and control machine performance and settings.
• Conduct routine tests to evaluate machine performance and capabilities.
• Inspect machinery using appropriate tools.
• Load raw materials into semi-automated machines and assist the assembly line.
• Address and resolve any issues or malfunctions that may arise.
• Examine machine output and identify any potential problems.
• Keep a log of activities and regularly submit performance reports.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be adept at running, maintaining, and troubleshooting heavy machinery
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and manage the machinery's output according to the production needs of the facility and the department
SKILLS
• Must be adept in the knowledge of machinery and well versed in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of the equipment assigned.
• Must be willing to have on-going training to maintain a high-level of knowledge in the machinery
• Must be able to comply with all safety compliance requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 1-3 years working in a manufacturing environment
• Interpersonal and communication skills
• Adaptability for changes at last minute
• Ability to work both in a team and independently
• Ability to accurately follow multi-layered instructions
REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• Must have experience with technology and large equipment/machinery
• Must have at least two-years related experience required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to comply with all PPE, GMP Guidelines and safety compliance
• Per state law, must be at least 21 years of age
• Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check
• Must pass a drug screening
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in cultivation and manufacturing environments. This role routinely uses cultivation processing equipment and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as the main equipment that will be in the scope of the responsibility of this role.
The company will ask you to help out in other departments depending on company needs. This means that you may not always work in the department that you were hired, teamwork and getting product out to patients is the goal and this means helping out where you are needed is crucial to your success as well as the company's success.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be able to speak and hear. Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position will sometimes require long hours and weekend work/holiday.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
