Salary Range: $52.58 - $81.24

Summary: The major job responsibilities of this position are: leadership, quality improvement, orientation and training, drug distribution, human resources and projects. The pharmacy technician supervisor directly supervises the pharmacy technicians. The supervisor is accountable for managing the day-to-day activities of the technician staff, designing and maintaining workflow, providing staff development and education, and evaluating the level of technician performance. The technician supervisor, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, will assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department. The technician supervisor functions in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Establishes daily workload pattern.
  • Monitors productivity.
  • Directs daily workflow.
  • Supervises work of Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Performs timely annual evaluation for staff.
  • Prepares schedule and posts with enough notice to the staff.
  • Assists in managing emergency shortfalls of staff.
  • Flexible to change in schedule.
  • Maintains good working relationship with coworkers.
  • Liaison between pharmacists and technicians.
  • Interview and recruits applicants for open positions.
  • Liaison between pharmacy and other patient care areas.
  • Assures delivery of medications to patient care areas.
  • Accountability of narcotics and investigational assured.
  • Maintains proper floor stock and Pyxis par levels in patient care areas and pharmacy.
  • Performs duties as assigned.
  • Continued ability to function in specialty areas.
  • Serves as committee/group leaders.
  • Monitors workflow and designs workflow studies.
  • Monitors quality reviews/control indicators (Pycis fills, drug usage studies etc).
  • Assists with problem evaluation and solution implementation.
  • Designs quality review/control indicators.
  • Assists in ongoing quality review design.
  • Maintains all work areas in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Monitors performance of monthly floor inspections and cycle counts.
  • Maintains pharmacy equipment (hoods, refrigerators, PC, etc.).
  • Pharmacy pick stations maintained.
  • Directs orientation and training of staff.
  • Monitors progress on orientation check list.
  • Maintains training of all equipment.
  • Assures proper drug preparation.
  • Able to generate Cerner, Talyst and Pyxis dispense/fill lists, produce and utilize labels, reports and print screens.
  • Able to retrieve medication information as required.
  • Maintains computer skills as required.
  • Monitor product usage trends review.
  • Inventory utilization in Pyxis.
  • Evaluate inventory utilization in specialty areas and Pyxis.
  • Assures monthly outdate inspections.
  • Assists in inventory receiving and storage.
  • Monitors product wastage.
  • Appropriate billing/crediting procedures.
  • Bill properly.
  • Monitors product usage trends and communicates to buyer or supervisor.
  • Obtains and maintains PTCB Pharmacy Technician certification and License.
  • Maintains knowledge base by participating in at least 6 pharmacy staff in-services annually.
