Job description

Purpose

The Print Shop Coordinator will manage and operate our new in-house digital printing press and process at our Ridge Manor facility. As a print and tech specialist, you will use your knowledge and expertise in digital printing and production to maintain PFF’s print quality standards and generate tags on time to meet our shipping schedules. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, pragmatic problem-solving, initiative, attention to detail, proactive troubleshooting, and a commitment to quality. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of onsite print operations, including utilizing print software, hardware, and operating and maintaining associated equipment.  
  • Manage the printing, bundling, and distribution of labels to the field.
  • Collaborate with shipping and label assembly teams to create an efficient workflow onsite 
  • Interact with our marketing team to ensure color, proper paper stock, and design quality are maintained, and identify and troubleshoot when a design file is missing an image or other information. 
  • Maintain supply of toner, paper, and other materials at the nursery and re-order as needed. 
  • Interact with our IT and marketing team to resolve missing data or errors as necessary. 
  • Apply knowledge of printing concepts, correct file formatting, and output settings.  
  • Apply knowledge of digital color management and ensure the print process correctly matches established color standards, adjusting equipment as needed.  
  • Manage equipment cleanliness and maintenance and develop and implement quality control processes to ensure print systems meet established standards.  
  • Verify tag accuracy, including botanical names, common names, pricing, barcodes, UPCs, regulatory information, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain inventories of tag stock, ribbons, toner, ink, and other printing supplies.
  • Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the company

Requirements

  • Experience in horticulture, nursery operations, agriculture, manufacturing, or production environments preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment  

  • Working knowledge or understanding of printing with variable print flow data

  • Ideally, experience with Die-cut machinery

  • Working knowledge of Adobe

  • Ideally, have Basic knowledge of Excel

  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to catch visual errors or changes

  • Comfortable learning and using new software

  • Ability and willingness to ask questions and take initiative

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Able to work flexible hours, overseeing multiple shifts within one day

  • Able to maintain workspace clean and free of clutter

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, is desired but not required

  • Good concept of color management (i.e., matching colors, ensuring color and print quality are high)

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
