Job Description

Our client is looking for a Security Design Consultant / Project Manager who can successfully be involved with security planning and designs consisting of a variety of systems, devices, techniques and procedures that are assembled and interfaced to address the specific needs of a facility given the physical, architectural, demographic, organizational and cultural characteristics of that facility. The successful candidate will enjoy security design and consulting that requires knowledge and experience to develop and integrate the appropriate level of security to protect a client's assets and competitive advantage in a proactive manner. The Senior Security Design Consultant is a solution provider who acts in the role of a new and follow-on business driver, working closely with clients to understand what they are trying to accomplish and managing expectations and outcomes. At the senior level a Security Design Consultant / Project manager holds the CPP designation and has the requisite combination of experience and education necessary to drive, perform, and manage security system design and consulting business. The PM must be able to manage projects, other consultants, and support personnel in support of client's needs and project scope. Project managers are responsible for managing the client relationship. Roles and responsibilities include:

1. Must be able to work well with others and give clear information as to your expectations.

2. Oversee all projects that you are responsible for and track the time and costs associated with those projects to ensure that project comes in on-time and on budget.

3. Provide peer review of documents for all team members.

4. Provide support to all team members to assist them in being successful.

5. Assist others in understanding and achieving 100% customer service.

Essential Skills:

1. Excellent communication is a critical skill that support the ability to ask the right questions, listen, and help clients, potential clients, and partners' problem solve and develop the best-case solutions based on their particular situation.

2. Written proficiency and the ability to articulate verbally and in writing security concepts and security program specifications, meeting minutes, and reports that are customized to client needs.

3. Drive business with new and existing clients.

4. Developing and costing proposals.

5. Project management from RFP stage to commissioning.

6. Researches security systems products to include, but not limited to, security management systems, access control systems, video systems, smartcard readers, intrusion detection systems, electronic door hardware, alarm devices, fiber transmission, TCP/IP cameras and security equipment, etc. Research various government standards and requirements documents, code requirements for building and life safety, and other industry guidelines.

7. Conducts security system assessments as a part of a larger security assessment for clients to include site security system review, system integration review, analysis, and recommendations to protect client assets as a part of an integrated security review.

8. Technical experience that supports role as a seller/doer and the ability to provide and develop security design layouts and specifications for new and existing clients.

9. Liaison and coordinate security services, equipment, and infrastructure between Architects, Engineers, and Owners.

10. Providing peer review on system design and assessment projects.

11. Travel based on client needs

Qualifications

Competencies:

1. Must be proactive, self motivated and forward thinking.

2. Must have broad security and construction related technical competencies including electronic security products and systems.

3. Requires deep knowledge and understanding of security operations.

4. Must be highly organized and able to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time.

5. Must be able to write comprehensive reports, assessments, meeting minutes, meeting agendas and coordination documents.

6. Must have financial acuity to support job costing and project management.

7. Must have good communication skills and work well in a team environment.

8. Must have a good understanding of best installation practices.

9. Must understand local and national life safety, building, electrical and ADA codes.

10. Must be able to review and answer/respond to Request for Information (RFI), AMR (Alternate Material Requests), CPR (Construction Permit Review) and Payment schedules.

Education and Skill Requirements:

1. A Senior Security System Designer/Project Manager is a security professional with a Bachelor's Degree in a related area of study or a combination of experience, education, and advanced training at a minimum.

2. Greater than 10 years of in-depth experience in security system design, physical security technology, construction management, and security system design and implementation working on large government and other commercial construction projects.

3. A recognized security certification including Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation, which is an industry standard awarded by ASIS International (American Society of Industrial Security) for successful completion of industry requirements and security related examination.

4. Practical and operational experience as it applies to the integration of security at the facilities level in addition to hands-on experience as a security consultant in a variety of government sector agencies and private sector firms.

5. Advanced degrees may be substituted for a maximum of two years of experience.

Position requires that individuals continue to develop technical and leadership skills through relationships, ongoing training and additional certifications that will support your professional recognition as an industry expert.

Must support the client and individual recognition, as an industry expert, by writing and submitting white papers, blogs and other publications that support and promote the companies brand and mission to act as a security advocate for the businesses we serve.
